They had a cute picture of a turtle on the front and the material was soft and super stretchy. I am going to try them out tonight and will see if they hold up with the overnight wee quantity. Stay tuned for further updates.

On first opening the packet the nappies look quite small and a little thinner than what I’m used to… mind you he is on the upper end of the weight scale and in other brands I have had him in the next size up. They are pretty plain which is good for a unisex nappy and won’t been as visible through white coveralls…. the turtle on the front is cute too!!
I think I can hear him waking now….. will let you know how they go!!

We tried them overnight and had no leakage so I would say they are successful as a night nappy. The only thing I didn’t like was how the filling feels really gluggy and clumpy where all the wetness catches. The nappy doesn’t seem to spread out the liquid like my current brand.
We haven’t had a number two in them yet so I will be back to post on how that went.

The nappies feel nice and soft and the design is cute. I found the nappies easy to use and loved the super stretchy tabs on the sides.
At night times we have never used a nappy that has been able to hold wees over the entire night. We have to put on an outercover over the nappies normally and L. still gets wet. I was very excited to see the double elastic around the leg area. We sucessfully had all the wees contained last night. Tonight I will not have the outer cover over the top to truly test them out. But I am ecstatic that he woke up with dry pjs this morning
. I think the main reason for the no leaks is due to the padding in both the front and the back of the nappy stopping a few cm’s from the top. When the padding goes all the way up it tends to bulge over and wet the clothes on the outside.

In terms of the external components of the nappies, I found it difficult to locate the perforated opening on the packet, although once located, I do like the opening style – allows for easy dispensing.
I’m somewhat puzzled as to why they use 5 identifying factors for the sizing – title, stage, weight, colour and animal. I understand it may be to assist with easy identification, but 5?? To ease apprehension in parents, I’d do away with the staging. The kg approximations are a great guide to go by.
I am appreciative of the unisex styling of the nappies. In this case, I would be able to use the same packet of nappies for both my 10kg 8 month old son and my 12kg 2 year old daughter. Easy! I’m actually considering going out and purchasing the correct size so that I can review it in terms of use on boys and girls and differences, if any. Will post results asap.

My 19month old is toilet trained and even if she wasnt, a stage 5 is too big for her slight frame. My son is a petite framed 6month old too – so definitely out of our size range Im afraid.

I liked the super grippy tabs and the nappy did feel nice and soft. The nappy stretches out well and they don’t keep the fold crease between the legs like some others.
I’m not sure how they are going to go as he is a heavy wetter and he is at the upper end of the weight scale. They seem quite tight around the legs and only just fit around the sides.
Will post again soon once he wakes up and we see how they go.

I did find the left hand tab was very hard to open when putting the nappy on. I have almost ripped the tab off completely every time I put the nappy on. They were great for over night. But for me the sagging of the nappy wasn’t good. Once it gets about half full, it starts to droop away from the skin and I don’t like that much gap. No poos yet. Will report more when that happens.

I wouldn’t recommend them if you are borderline in the weight limit on the pack or your bub is chubby in the legs. Even though he was almost a kilo under the weight limit they just didn’t fit.
The quality is pretty good though and the tabs are good and strechy. Plain white for the cover is also good as it doesn’t show through clothes.

Anyway, I was a bit worried putting it on DS 2 last night thinking he would wake up with a wet bed but i’m pleased to say I was wrong! They go on really well, very stretchy and comfy looking and I love the extra little bit that wraps around for the tabs to stick on and NO LEAKS, didn’t even look close to leaking, so after the first night’s trial I am very pleased with this product!

I was worried the nappies would be too small…. he was getting a line from them cutting in around the legs, but after adjusting the way I was doing them up they seem to be fine.
Such a cute little size, not as bulky under his clothes that some other nappies can be.
Not quite sure if I’ll be going out to buy them though – I guess it will depend on the price of them. If they are cheaper than what I normally buy then I would consider it!!

Compare that with the 46c ea for Huggies nappies (at full price), but you can very often get them at about 33c ea on special (and ver occasionally at 30c).
I have recently started using the Aldi nappies and they are just under 29c ea at their regular price.
So basically these Select nappies are not a cheaper alternative….. however, if I was to see them on special at a comparative price I would buy them!!

I gave my pack to a friend (due to the sizing) and she had some smaller ones as she buys this brand for little un…
As a modern cloth nappy user, I will admit that I find these rather thin, however, thats par for the course considering extra boosters for night time use in MCN’s.
I do find the grip tabs effective, however, they can be tricky to open out sometimes – the occasional one will stick and feel like its about to tear before giving. As a result, Imake sure I havethe nappy opened out and ready on the change pad before puttingmy little man down for a change.
Like others, I have found a bit of a sag factor and I am a really regular ‘bottom checker’ as a result of MCN use. In some respects, perhaps thats a good thing though – the wetness is being pulled right away from baby’s skin.
I like the stretch around the legs and snug fit and also agree that having the padded area stop before the top rises of the nappies is great for leak control.
Sofar so good

We did have some instances of leakage from poo though. Both times the poo was not super runny just mushy however it leaked around the leg area. L. is 14kg though and we have the 13+ nappies. This may not have happened if he had the nappy size down.
The double elastic around the legs is nice and soft and does not leave marks on L.’s legs. We have been getting between 4-5 hours out of a nappy even after a 250ml bottle during the day and they are lasting all night with no leaks.
I will definetley be purchasing these as night time nappies.

The first thing I noticed was that they are slightly smaller than other brands. My daughter is 7kgs, so we are starting to move out of infant and into crawler sizes. They also seemed thinner than the other brands.
The first 2 poos leaked out of the legs- something that never happens with Snugglers and Huggies. It also came up to her shoulders …. but that also happens on the odd occassion with the other brands that we use.
We continued to use the nappies and I was happy with them as a cheaper alternative. I LOVED the stretchy tabs although they did seem a little more fragile as 1 came right off as I was putting it on my daughter. I also LOVED that they are plain white. So much better under a dress or white snuggle suits.
After 3 days of daytime use (They were a little too small to use for a night time nappy) my daughter developed nappy rash. I immediately changed back to Snugglers and within the day, her rash has disappeared.
I also checked out the prices today when I did my shopping at Woolworths. This week they are on special and equate to 29c each. (Infant size) although their normal price is 37c each – not a cheaper alternative.
I have used Safeway Home Brand with my older children (the plain white package with black writing) and have found them to be just as good as any nappy – and probably better than these Select Brand. They do only come in Toddler and Jnr sizing though.
Only because of the nappy rash, I would not purchase these nappies now, but would try them again when my daughter is a little older. For now – I have passed on the half pack to a friend of mine to also try. I will post a review on her behalf once she has had the change to use them on her daughter!

My son isnt a big wetter during the day and i am considering to toilet train him ( he is 2) and confident… he is also a little skinny so the nappies used were a little funny but they didnt leak or anything…my son is older and doesnt have many runny poos now so i am sure that the above issues wont happen to us… i havent used them during the night yet but we will see… i am using the last tone of my other brand tonight so tomorrow night will be the big test..

So far so good.

(we had sizing issues) and I have to say that I cant see myself purchasing these.
The biggest factor is quality for price (in the past when I have bought disposables, Ive bought the babylove @ for $50 special which gave us 200+ nappies at around 23c ea) – the grip tabs are average, the sag factor is unnerving – my son is a crawler and I imagine walkers would have issues with this and the papery feeling is not nice in my opinion. This said, I was always going to be a tough one to convert. Why? because…
) The ones I have will fit through to toilet training and Ive never once had issues with leakage and ‘poo-plosions’. Mind you, I am a stay at home/ work at home Mum so washing etc isnt an issue and I understand that clothies just arent everyone’s cup of tea.
I love my Modern Cloth Nappies to bits!! If I need more absorbancy – pop anpother booster in the pocket – If I want a slim fit, take one out. They are fully adjustable length wise and across the top (width) and look and feel so soft

They are the right size for my daughter she is 8 kg and trialing the crawler size but I find they are very high rise and tabs cross over in the middle.
I find the elastic around the leg is not very tight and causes leakages – which we had the first night we used them.
The absorbancy of the nappy is good (if no leaks through the legs) then she can last 12 hours during the night!
Nice and slim design and cute picture.

The first things I noticed was that they are considerably more compact, they fold down very thin and fitted into my nappy bag very nicely. The second thing was that the pictures on the nappies were all in soft colours which is a good thing as I have seen (especially on girls) where parents have dressed their babies in lovely soft and pale coloured little outfits which then look like they have blotches or marks on them because the bright or dark coloured patterns on the nappy are showing through.
I have so much more to make comment on but my 7 year old has just asked for breakfast, so it’s off to the kitchen again for me!

I have been using Huggies for my daughter in the past. The Select nappies state they are unisex so I was concerned about absorbency in the front region. They do seem to absorb less but I feel this is a good thing as it encourages more regular nappy changes which is better for baby bottoms.
My daughter hasn’t done a big poop in them yet so I will report back once that has happened! I also need to trial them overnight.
Will let you know but so far so good!!

After a week of use, I am not 100% keen on them. The positives: We have had no major leaking (except for big poo-plosions which are to be expected!) and the poo is contained quite well. The leak guards are quite good and give good protection, When they are full they don’t have the dirty “smell” that Huggies nappies have. They have lasted during the night really well.
The Negatives: They are really big for my baby and take about 6 attempts to get the tabs in a secure enough position so that its a snug enough fit, and the tabs overlap too much, so if you need to adjust you have to keep adjusting both tabs until you get a good fit because of that overlap! This also means that they aren’t quick to get on if you have a wriggler! I have also found that the area that the tabs adhere to at the front isn’t really wide enough so you can’t really avoid the overlap. Also the inside tabs that go around bubs side aren’t very wide and don’t sit well. They are quite flimsy and when they are pooy you can see the brown through the nappy! That’s a bit offputting.
All in all not a bad nappy thus far, but I wouldn’t rush out to buy them over Huggies. Would prob only use them as a back up if we ran out.
I still have to finish the packet so I will see how we go over the next week!

My son is 7.6 kilos and the first one I put on leaked!! It wasn’t even a 3 hour stretch. I always enjoy trying a new product but I think my little mans pees and poos are a bit much for these ones. They felt thinner than the usual huggies ones we use and the band didn’t seem to have much cover over his waist. My partner picked one up and started peeling the front image off thinking it was where the velcro stuck! But it was just the image stuck onto the nappy.
I did notice a kind of circular pattern over the front of it that went clear and visible when the nappy was wet, I don’t know if that was meant to be or not.
Otherwise they were a nice snug fit but I wouldn’t use them for long periods of time.

They have so far been great. No leakages, even up the back of the nappy. This morning it would have been a close call on other nappies, but there was still over an inch above keeping it all contained. Even though it is thin, it seems absorbant enough to get the job done. The side tabs are handy and haven’t once broken on me.
I have noticed I can smell whether the nappy is used or not with either bodily function, but this helps in keeping up with the changes.

I did this and well, I had a blanket of jelly snow at my clothes line as I shook the jelly from all the clothes.. It went everywhere, including all over me and in my hair ect.. Not a good idea mums. Also my machine has not worked properly since
I noticed someone else commented on the smell.. I too have noticed a very unusual smell, but didnt even think it was from the nappies, hmm interesting.. I wonder if its something in them that makes the nasty unpleasant smell? Will be interested to see if anyone else notices this too.
overall: If they are on sale and you are looking for a bargain I would recommend for daytime use only. I will probably buy these again as I figure they are only nappies. My son didnt get any rashes from them and they did the job 95% of the time.

On a negative, they don’t feel as soft as Huggies and seem a little more plastic. They also seem full and heavy after only an hour or so ie not the best absorbancy, and they don’t keep much of the odour in. I feel like I need to change my son more often.
My 3yr old daughter also likes using nappies for her ‘bubba’, although I hate wasting them so she has to reuse hers. She never has a prblem opening and using Huggies, but when I gave her a Select one she said ‘Mummy, help me, I can’t do it, it’s not working’.

I’ve been using the nappies for both day and night and my boy has been giving them a real work out! He’s teething at the moment so the nappies have been a real mess (sorry for the graphics, ha ha) but they have really stood up to the challenge. I’ve had no leaking and they have stayed on very well. The tabs are a little tight to get open but I would far prefer that as they stay stuck where they should be and not opening every time he moves as I have experienced with some other brands.
The only down side I have found with the Select nappies is that after a full night of sleeping (very rare, but it has happened!) when I walk in the room I can smell the wee smell in the nappy so I don’t believe tha they are as perfumed or nil odouring as some other brands.

Like others I use the huggies overnight and a cheaper brand during the day. The select nappies would fit into that well. Once really full however they do sag and get really chunky with I think would be uncomfortable. The other issue is the tabs are really hard to open when a wriggling child just wants to run away.
But on the positive the stretch in the tabs helps for a great fit on a slim waisted child and all in all I will price them and see where they fit in the cost verse product. I really didn’t think I would be saying that!
My verdict: Worth a try

One thing I was not too happy with was the stickiness of the tags. I found them quite sticky to begin with and found them hard to unstick. At times the tag slipped out of my fingers and snapped back onto my little girl causing a bit of pain! The poor thing!! But then, funny thing is, that I found that if you had to restick them after checking the nappy for example, then they weren’t that sticky anymore, and in fact didn’t stick back very well at all. I did find that these nappies were good but if you took one off and put it back on (dry one taken off then put back on after swimming for example) the nappy lost shape and stickiness of tags and got a bit saggy.
Not too bad though!

We have been using the woolworths select nappies for a week now. On first impression they appeared thinner than our regular brand so i was a little nervous about leakage, much to my surprise this was not the case as we’ve had no leaks at all. The only negative was that they didn’t seem to draw all the moisture away and her skin still felt damp after a nappy change, but in saying that, we never had any rash problems. As an overnight nappy it was great, no spillage and they didn’t leak through the outer covering. All number 2′s and 3′s were contained within the nappy, and having padding going all the way up the front made for more effective wiping.

The only thing I was a little unsure of, is my when my daughter got a really wet nappy she seemed to be a little red. Not sure though if this was nappy rash caused by the nappy or teething. But hadn’t noticed this previously.
All in all – we had no leaks she seemed comfortable and they performed well. For the right price I would most likely use them again.

* Wouldn’t use overnight again as nappy rash got worse.
* Size is not very accurate. My daughter is 5kgs and infant size is too small.
* I would only use these nappies during the day as they are so thin that changes need to be more frequent than what i would using Huggies.
* I think even though they are a cheaper alternative, you have to also work out how many times a day you will be changing your baby and with this brand you wiull probably have to change them twice as much and in the end it would work out the same to buy a more expensive brand which you would need fewer changes.

Our boy tested these while 11 months. He was in the perfect weight range for testing this product at just over nine kilos (for the Crawler range). At this age he has been crawling and cruising – very active.
I would like to suggest perforations to make opening the package easier – maybe they were there but I couldn’t find them.
Aesthetically the nappies had a very appealing design and we thought they appeared to have a good fit.
But unfortunately, they leaked for us on a couple of short afternoon naps. Because of this, we were not prepared to use these nappies overnight. He is a heavy wetter – in the past couple of months we have only prevented leakages at night by inserting thick bamboo pads inside larger disposables.
I would happily consider using this brand again for day wear, though I am a little hesitant in putting my boy down for a nap in them.
Thanks

I also found that the Walker size seemed to be a tight fit for him when he normally fits comfortably into walker size (he is 15.5kgs). I would proably say these nappies are ok for daytime wear with frequent changing (maybe better for smaller bubs who have smaller wees and more frequent changes) but need to be a tad more absorbant for bigger toddlers, also a reassessment of sizings would be beneficial.

First impressions on opening the pack were that the nappies are quite small.
On putting on the nappy I noticed each tab is folded twice before you even pull the tabs open (picky I know but why is this needed on such small nappies?). I also realised the back of the nappies is not elasticised (one of my prerequisites with nappies).
When I put the nappy on I was quite impressed with how stretchy it was when doing it up.
I was not phased by the fact that the nappies are unisex as I often use unisex nappies.
I find it doesn’t seem to hold the same volume of the other nappies I use (I generally use Aldi’s Mammia nappies, but sometimes Huggies), and my daughters clothes often seem moist despite me changing her nappy a minimum of 6 times a day. For this reason I have not used them during the night. Not prepared to risk it….
I quite like the lining on the inside of the nappy, as it seems quite different to that of other nappies I have ever used
I have no idea how much the nappies cost in the store and I’m not likely to check, as I don’t really have any interest in buying them.

I found that the tabs did not easily release when putting the nappy on and in some instances, required two hands to release each tab……. not a recommended feat when dealing with a two year old who is itching to go and continue playing!
If I had to recommend these nappies, it would be for back up/emergency situations only. Definitely NOT for long periods of time or overnight use.
For cheap backup nappies if you’re stuck or one of those ‘just before bathtime’ nappy changes where you don’t want to use an expensive nappy for the sake of an hour or so, they’re fine.

Yes, they were soft and cute design, but they weren’t as absorbent as I would hope them to be. After one day of use, my son had developed a mild case of nappy rash and wet several clothes. I didn’t try them at night, cause I wasn’t comfortable in risking a wet bubba in the morning.
Thanks for solving my curiosity, I was starting to look at these as an option, but I now know that they didn’t meet my expectations.

Good points: compact, good patterns, absorbent, nice fit
Bad points: a bit smelly, tabs a little tight on some of them (is this a bad point?)
Overall, I wouldn’t turn my nose up at buying them. I don’t believe they are as good as Huggies but I do believe they are very close. I usually stock up on Huggies when they’re on sale and I haven’t checked the price of the Select nappies but if they come in under 30c a nappy I would be inclined to use them when my boxes run out.
In summary – a very good product! Thank you Woolworths and Mouths of Mums for allowing us the opportunity to road test

We also just avoided a poo explosion last night up his back. I didn’t think the little pouch that Huggies has at the top actually did anything but I discovered last night that it does work as the Select nappies don’t have one.
Not sure if I would buy them as I stock up when Huggies are on special and I think they are better value.

It feels quite soft on the the inside but papery on the outside. The stretchy tabs, and the stretchy legs are good but I notice it didn’t have a stretchy back, which makes me worry about leakage if my son had runny poos.
I had no problems using it during the day, but for the first night there was a little leakage, however consequent nights had no further leakage.
I wouldn’t buy this product for its full price in the store, but if there’s a good sale then I would consider it for daytime wear only.

They looked comfortable on her and the fastener tabs were very stretchy. I normally use Huggies and did find the Woolworth’s Select nappies a cheaper comparable that i would use again. I am about to have a baby in 2 weeks so will also try the newborn size.

I don’t however recommend for the night as they do leak, but as daytime nappies I would definably use them again!
Positives: Super Stretchy, Light Weight, Nice Design, Fits to little bodies for comfort
Negatives: Not absorbant enough for Night time, the tabs are hard to get into spot (with a 2 year old you want it to be fast and easy, not fiddly). Price is still not reasonable when you can get twice the amount of nappies from Aldo for the same price.
Overall I would use these again for Daytime nappies

I would happily try the next sizes (trialled new born) nappies again by day but not at night, to much of a risk of leaking etc.
They are not as good as Huggies and I stock up on these when they are on sale however if you are not able to spend money on Huggies these are worth a go.

I was very impressed with the nappies. They are the best I have tried after Huggies which is what I use for both my boys. The only negative is that they dont hold enough to last a full night. My son sleeps 10-12 hrs over night and two nights I had these nappies on he woke a couple of times because they had leaked. So I am back to Huggies overnight. I would definately buy them for day use. I am sorry again and realise this post is problem is probably no help now.

OK, I finally have a minute to type this after using the whole packet!
but they are made in Germany, which if you’re going to have an offshore nappy, at least Germany makes good ones in my experience…
First it was great to get a whole pack as this gives a genuine experience as if you were to buy the nappies.
They are very slim in appearance, and cute pale designs. I noted they weren’t made in Australia
I found they weren’t so great at night, but I didn’t have high hopes there, as only Aldi or Huggies will see my daughter through the night without leaks. The first night was a minor leak so I gave them another go and had a bad leak the second night, so stuck to days after that.
My daughter is petite, just under 10kg at 16months and had the 10-15kg nappies. Usually I might upsize for night time, but use the smaller one for day time. She had a couple leaks around the legs in the day but I think this was because they were too big and consequently I hadn’t tightened them enough.
The main negative for me was they seemed not to draw moisture away so well, but left the outside fairly wet which could be a problem in the long term with nappy rash.
As a day nappy, these would be fine, whether I would buy them would depend on the price point. For a day nappy I usually go on a price/quality balance.

We found the Woolworths Select nappies to be useful only for short periods of time. Our little boy wasn’t able to sleep in them overnight as they didn’t quite contain the ‘explosions’ as well as Huggies. Also, we found that he tended to develop nappy rash a lot more frequently when using the Select nappies. Another reason for not keeping him in them for long stretches, i.e. overnight.
Our little one is currently just over 6kg’s & was using the infant nappy. Perhaps, we may have had better results in the crawlers even though infant is for up to 8 kg.
Thank you for the opportunity to do this review.

Other than that, the nappies didnt cause any nappy rash on our son so it does provide an affordable alternative as a day time nappy.

Anyway I was by chance doing my shopping in woolworths a few weeks ago and these were on special. Big box for $20. I got a box in both my son and daughters sizes. I loved them for my son they fit well and were very absorbent. I was not happy with them on my daughter at all. Poor fit and not absorbent enough. Really goes not show no nappy will suit everyone.
