The small box of chocolates could have been the hero ‘mum’s” present, nicely wrapped/pretty box etc. Personally i loved the orange balls and the rocky road. Not fussed on black liquorice, its an acquired taste to put in a generic bag of goodies.
I do agree that $20 is a better ‘neater’ price point, which could be achieved by taking out a chunky item and including some smaller products to bulk it out.

The rocky road is “chunky”, however after cooling it in the fridge was easily sliced and served as a treat for am tea.
Price…. hmmm…. I thought the $25 was great value! Looking at the cost of these individually got a big tick of approval from me!!!
Love the nice simple bag however thought this could be smaller!
Overall – thoroughly enjoyed!!!!!!!!

I’m not a girly girl at all so I really like the blue colour on the bag. And everything inside went down a treat! Being a mum I shared everything and it worked out well because there was something for everyone (hubby loves the licorice and the kids loved the orange balls).
I read that some of the other mums thought the price was a bit high – in terms of value for money, you get a lot of stuff (I’m a bit anal and added it all up and it’s actually about $40 worth) so that’s good. We usually give our kids (we have 3) $10 each and they put their money together to buy Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day gifts so $25 is good and gives them a bit left over if they want to buy a card (or a little soap which they always do).
I’ll definitely be getting one of these for both the grandmothers this year – will make a nice change to slippers!
Thanks for including me in this review MoM!

I loved all the chocolates but the rocky road was a bit hard to eat. It is a bit to big and chunky.
The little box of chocolates was good because I could share them around.
I am just not sure of the price, $25 for chocolate seems a little much. I would not be happy with my kids spending that much on junk food when I am always trying to get them to eat healthy.
Overall I really liked the bag.

I would have preferred some “non chocolate” inclusions. For example, their jelly babies, jelly beans.
The licorice never fails…it is amazing.
Overall I would rate this bag highly

The licorice is the best taste I have had so far although I am not a big fan of black licorice, orange balls are good and I love the packaging as well. I liked the rocky road but I think half of the size would just be perfect. And to be honest I don’t like the soft and hard centre chocolate box much, they don’t taste very premium and are too sweet for me.
Overall love this bag, just wish it could have more varieties and smaller sizes.

I picked up my bag on Wednesday, and my first thought was, wow, this is heavy. The bag was a great quality (I was expecting showbag style), and I was impressed with the amount inside. I couldn’t believe the size of the Rocklea Road and in fact, it is probably far too big – in saying that, I’m yet to taste it! I don’t know that this is something I would buy as a gift, but would be more than happy to receive it!!!
CHOC ORANGE BALLS
I was actually disappointed with these. One of my faves generally, I didn’t really like the taste at all (I’m used to cheap home brand choc orange balls!!). I thought the balls were a little too large, and had too much packaging. There was no need for the plastic insert in my opinion. I did eat them all!!!, but wouldn’t go and buy them again.
Looking forward to trying more out tonight! Thanks.

Absolutely loved the variety in the bag – chocolates – hard and soft..jaffas…rocklea road…and licorice – there is something for every single mum.
The only thing I could fault is the variety in the hard and soft centred chocolate box – I got about 4 or 5 of the same chocolates and only about 4 different chocolates in all.
I think its very reasonably priced – for what you are receiving and the quality is amazing!
Very happy with you darrell lea – I will surely be going back to stock up on some more chocolates!
Thanks for allowing us to try!

Yum, yum, yum. My husband and I just demolished these. Both of us loved them. My two concerns are: 1. Variety…..I love peanut brittle, but there was only one – I missed out! But there were plenty of doubles in soft centres. 2. The toffee supreme, whilst fabulous tasting, wad so hard I bit my mouth and tongue biting through it! Way too hard, even for hard centre lovers like me!
The bag is now sitting on the table and all I can smell is licorice…..cannot wait to try it tomorrow night. What a wonderful review to be part of.

The licorice was amazing, I have never liked black licorice at all but this was so different and delicious that I think it should be sold under another name so that non-licorice lovers give it a try.
I though the bag was a nice mix of lollies but if i was buying something for my Mum for Mother’s Day I would rather pick and mix her favourite sweets than get a bag containing a generic selection. That said I think I would buy this for Grandma or perhaps a birthday gift for a work colleague.

The liquorice was absolutely delicious, as was the Rocklea Road but I agree with the other comments that it is too big and cumbersome. A smaller bar and another product to make up the value would be better.
I wasn’t overly impressed with the box of hard and soft centred chocolates, the chocolate didn’t taste like good quality chocolate and the fillings weren’t great. The same could be said about the chocolate covered almonds, the chocolate didn’t taste great, although the crunchy almonds made up for it!
I didn’t receive the chocolate organge balls in my bag so I can’t comment on them but I did get another box of the chocolates instead.
I would have been more excited to see smaller packets of a greater variety of things.
The bag is good value for money and definitely more interesting than just receiving a plain box of chocolates!

I am not normally a fan of licorice and tried this one… it was ok, but would prefer other flavours of licorice, (gave the licorice to my dad). Orange chocolate is not normally a favourite of mine either, but I found myself being rather drawn to these ones (but would have rathered somthing else in there place)
I think the bag needs to be a little more girly to be a mums bag… the soft and hard centers could be in a nicer box layed out so you can see what chocolate you are picking out, but they were yummy! as with the orange balls and scorched almonds they could be in a box simmilar to the one the other choclates were in, instead of a packet.
The rocklea road was my favourite!!!
Over all I was suprised at some of the flavours and tried somthing new, would recommend to others but it might be nice if you could pick what went into the bag as every mum is different

THe box of chocolates, bit average. THe hard centres were too hard, close to impossible to eat. There were some very strange flavours in them as well, the caramel did not really taste like caramel.
THe chocolate covered almonds were a bit hit with the older members, and so were the orange balls.
Overall, i would recommend the bag, but maybe put some better quality Darrell Lea mixed chocolates in it.

And, the quality – not quite up to standard.

The assorted chocolates however weren’t great – some obscure flavours and not very nice. Also many of the pictures on the box looked nothing like the actual chocolate so it was difficult to work out which was which. Time for Darrell Lea to review these flavours I think.
The licorice was very nice and in just the right quantity. Not at all salty.
Value-wise, initially it didn’t seem to be worth $25, but having priced the items, that’s basically the value. I would suggest that a $20 price tag might make it more appealing though as it’s hard to accept that those few items were $25 worth.
Thanks for the opportunity to review this item – I enjoyed it immensely!

My initial thoughts were that I loved the look of everything but I wasn’t excited by the box of chocolates and thought it could be replaced with a selection of smaller/cheaper items instead.
My family and I slowly worked out way through the delicious products (enjoying everyone of them) and the box of chocolates remained last. About a week or two later, I thought I should at least try the chocolates and I was so surprised to discover that there were so many chocolates in the box (I assumed there would only be about 6 or so) and they were INCREDIBLY delicious! The packaging really does not do these chocolates justice! I would NEVER have bought these chocolates and yet they are now my favourite! The pictures of the chocolates are also quite difficult to match to the real items which made it a little difficult when you wanted to avoid a particular flavour, but it turned out that all of the flavours were delicious so it didn’t matter so much.
All in all, I am very impressed by the quality and taste of all of the products. I quite like someone else’s suggestion of wrapping the box of chocolates to make it more of a mum-only special gift inside the bag. It may also be useful to have a second (mini) mum’s bag that could be priced more appropriately for children to buy for their mum (eg. $15).

My first thoughts of the bag were that it was very heavy (fantastic!). Was not keen on the colour or design of the bag. I want to feel really special on Mother’s Day, so would respond better to something in more of a gold theme to suggest quality. Also didn’t get why there was a pic of a lady drinking coffee on the bag (with not a chocolate in sight), maybe something more in theme would have been better. Also didn’t like the bag title at all ‘Mum’s Bag’, made me feel like I was picking up groceries or something – how about ‘Mum’s Secret Indulgence’ or something more appealing.
The chocolate selection was fantastic, but would have like to see smaller quantities but a bigger or more refined range. I totally agree about the black licorice, would have been better to get mini bags of the different flavours instead of one big bag of black. Loved all the chocolate and don’t usually buy Darrell Lea, but will probably duck into a store now from time to time to pic up a treat, so was good from a marketing perspective. Loved the little box of chocolates, these made me feel like I was having a particularly special treat, you can’t go past a scorched almond and the choc orange balls were a big hit with the family!
Thankyou for making me a part of this survey.

Darrel Lea have great products and it was fabulous to be able to sample so many. All of the products in the bag I was given were great quality.
The choc orange balls were delicious, and the rocky road is always a family favourite. My daughter loved the scorched almonds (as did I). The chocolate box had some winners, but the hard ones were too hard. The licorice was lovely and fresh.
The product selection was probably not perfect for mums. The big bag of licorice, for example seems to me to be more of a “Dad” treat . Perhaps more soft centred chocolates, or some pink girly type treats would make this bag perfect
As for value for money – one more awesome product would make it a great value gift.
My husband has asked for a second bag to sample!

When I first took the mum’s bag home my whole family were excited for all the treats in the bag. At the end we didn’t get disappointed. The price may be a bit high, especially for kids to buy for their mums. A mini version with smaller quantity but similar variety would be great to offer.
Thank you very much for the chance of reviewing such a great product!

Anyway, back to the bag; I can’t imagine my husband choosing it for me (on behalf of my 14 month old!) as the contents wasn’t really something than would normally appeal, however I did really enjoy the choc orange balls and scorched almonds. The liquorice, allthough excellent, isn’t something I’d consider a treat for a special occasion. The Rocky Road wasn’t to my taste – it’s size put me off. The chocate box unfortunately had too many soft centres… I’m a toffee and nut kind of girl. All in all, not bad but probably not what I’m hoping to get for Mother’s Day.
That said, thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to review the product.

Well, well, well….I never knew there was chocolate out there I hadn’t tried…til now! I’m not a fan of marshmellow, so don’t ever buy Rocklea Road (or anything similar), but wow, I think I’ll be adding it to my list. Nothing else to say!

I have finally got through my bag of goodies (almost, but I’ve tried everything now!). I love licorice and this bag did nothing to sway me from that! The only thing I would suggest is maybe a smaller bag of licorice, with bite size pieces. Licorice is not something you can sit there and gobble down like chocolate or chips (well I can’t anyway!), so a smaller bag is all that is needed.
OVERALL
Whilst I would be happy to receive this bag for Mother’s Day, it’s probably not something that I would buy. I think it’s great value for money, but a smaller bag, or maybe box, with lots of small packs in it always seems more appropriate for a mum. I wasn’t impressed with the choc orange balls, but I note everybody else was so maybe it is just my taste buds used to the cheap version!
Thank you for this opportunity, it was a great review to be part of. Now, do you have a skipping rope or gym membership I can review?!
