Wow!!! First impression really do count……love the colour, style and design of the Kushie. My son Samuel is fasinated by the texture and feel and he didn’t make a scene during this nappy change.

Mine is White. I would have loved one of the funky ones but it still looks pretty good!
It’s rally light and looks very well made. I love the idea of the attached liner as all the other ones I have used had insertable ones and they weren’t much fun.
I love that you can change it for male or female.
I have just popped it in for a wash so I’ll see how we go when its dry.
I also really like the idea of flushable liners. My husband always freaks out when the babies have “stinkies” (my 19 month old calls them) in cloth nappies which is the main reason we are a disposable family.
Hopefully these will change his mind!!!

My first impression is that the nappy is of excellent quality, well made, practical. I like the velcro closure (although was wondering if this will become clogged with fluff after a few washes?)
The other thing I was wondering is there is no option to add the booster pad (although having a plastic cover probably reduces the need for that..)
If I was buying this nappy I would have chosen a different design (got a yellow one with brown and blue prints), but this is really minor. The liners are a great idea to make the washing process easier.
The nappy is in the wash and I will report back on performance. This will be our first cloth nappy experience.

My first thought was that the design was very cute.. I wasnt sure about the material on the outside of the nappy, but when its on my little man it actually is great!
The sizing is great, my son is about 9kgs and 10 months old, and it is a perfect fit for him. It fits great around his legs and waist.
The design is also very cute! Colours are great and the nappy looks like it is made very well!
I’m interested to see how it goes over night!

I had folded the attached liner as instructed for use with girls and placed the flushable liner on top. It didn’t seem very absorbant. Her body was quite wet when I removed the nappy, so I don’t think it draws moisture away like some disposables.
The flushable liner is still a great idea but we didn’t “need” it for this particular nappy change.
I’ll try again folding the liner a different way and not use the flushable one and keep you all posted.

This type of nappy would be good in winter but not sure how it would fare on those hot humid days (especially having a plastic cover).
I will definitely give it another go once bubs gets bigger, that way the nappy will be a better fit.
The liners are mainly there to keep the solids away from the pad, they are not meant to be the main absorbent material. Is this correct?

Not even an hour had passed and my lovely boy had done a number two, now I know one shouldn’t get too excited about that prospect but as a reviewer I was interested to see
how the Kushie faired.
Well let’s just say it’s back in the wash, the liner didn’t manage to catch everything and the kushie was soiled. I do love how you can flush the liner down the toilet though.
So once our Kushie dries(alas no dryer in my house) we’ll pop it on for another go.
Maybe I need some helpful hints on the “How to Use” part!!!!

ours just arrived today and my first impression are they look great and my daughter looks very comfortable in it.. but i was wondering if these particular ones are made for a certain weight as my daughter is 7 kg and it gaps alot around the legs so we will have to wait and see about leakage or not..

i would not recommend this nappy for young babies, i dont know if kushies have different sizes or anything but it was simply to big for my 4 month old.
i will try it on my 2 year old for his night time nappy tonight and see how it goes for a bigger child

I washed it and left it in the sun to dry and used it wednesday night for the first time and it leaked. Not to worry. Washed it again and again and will try again tonight to see what happens.
I didnt know (have never looked into cloth) that you have the liners inside for dirty bottoms and it goes straight in the toilet. The idea of them being flushable is great. my reason for not using cloth was the idea of washing dirty nappies and soaking and putting them in the machine was a turn off for me, but im loving this idea and think if they work as well then i may be purchasing a few.
early days so lets see how it goes after a few washes.
Love the photos that are up and there is some very cute funky designs of nappies and babies too ofcourse.

My 3 year old is toilet trained and does not need it. When I put it on him, he ran around the house in the nappy thinking he is Tarzan! It was hilarious.
His sister will be using the nappy once she gets a bit older

this morning when i got him up he was soaked and there was poo all over his clothes and bed. he also has a rash around the legs from where the nappy has irritated him…
i will wash again and try it on him for his day time nap tomorrow and see how it is when worn only for a short period..

I have now prewashed and tested out the Kushies nappy on my 5 month old. I didn’t receive any specific care or washing instructions so I have just washed it as I do with my other modern cloth nappies. I noticed just after the initial washes that the inner is pilling, due to the type of material presumably.
I have the 4-10kg size and it does seem to big on my 6.5kg baby at the moment and gapes around her legs. On the first trial the nappy did not leak as I suspect that it might due to being a bit large so it does seem very absorbent. I’m not sure that it would contain a “poopslosion” though.
I got a solid green colour Kushies which is cute and I will attach a picture of my little girl wearing it. I really love the print designs!
I also tested a nappy liner and it coped better than I expected. The liner had moved out of place so the nappy did still get quite dirty but the parts that were covered by the liner were quite clean so I was impressed. Glad that they are flushable which makes life easier.
I have had a quick look at prices and they do seem to be on the high end of the scale. I wondered if they are available to buy singularly as I just saw packs of two or five. Most of the modern cloth nappies I have cost around $22-30. I would pay more for nappies if I was confident they would last a long time though as I have had issues with elastic stretching, inserts deteriorating and PUL cracking with other brands. I wondered if there is a warranty period for these nappies as I try to buy nappies with a 6 or 12 month warranty.
I am looking forward to trying the nappy again and seeing how it lasts over time.

I have decided to not put the Kushie on around my son’s sleep routine because my biggest concern so far is when the nappy is full it the outer plastic becomes very cold and in return makes my little boy cold. Not soo good with winter on it’s way!!!

But in saying all this……… I tried again, as soon as she had done a pooey nappy I put on the cloth nappy, with a liner – again my daughter noticed no difference in the nappy, I did find it very bulky under her pants, but she didn’t seem to notice that either. I was happy with absorbance of the wee’s the liner probably didn’t need to be used at this point, and would be happy to use them again for wee’s only!!! But I think the washing would get a bit annoying as you have to change the cloth nappy alot more regularly than a disposable. As for purchasing them, depends on how much they cost, and if I could be bothered washing them all the time….

The nappy is a little bit tight on my 21month old daughter the next size up would have been perfect.
Im loving the nappy and liners though, its good that these can be used in a dryer as i noticed that depending on the weather they take a little bit longer to dry due to the inbuilt liner which i think is awesome, i like the fact that it already has the waterproof cover and they are so soft on our little girls bum must be because they are organic!
The nappy liners are great too but we live on a property and can not flush these into the septic tank which i really wanted to try so we went to a friend house in town just to see how they went being flushed..so much easier!
I would purchase more of these nappies they are one of the best cloth nappies ive used so far and it came in handy when i ran out of disposables and living out of town it saved me from a huge mess while we went to buy some nappies!
Kushies in the bush!!
Highly reccommend these to any parent or mother to be..love it i need to buy a bigger size so my daughter can continue to wear these and be comfortable in her correct size,.
I think Kushies are worth the mess of having to wash cloth nappies they really are great!

After washing the Kushie for the past 4 weeks absorbency has increased but as it is not the best fit for my boy it still tends to leak. I understand however that you would need to purchase at least 5 (as a starter pack) to see how the kushie goes over a longer period of the day rather than using it once and then waiting again for it to be washed and also for it to dry. I am glad for the opportunity to trial this product as I was always interested to see how clothe nappies worked.
