The message of Clara Worry Cloud is for children not to worry about things that have not yet happened. A simple, clear message, yet so important in childhood and throughout life. Clara Worry Cloud has had great response.

Here’s a little bit of background from the author of Clara Worry Cloud …

I am a Perth born, flower power child, born in the VERY early 70′s.  I have always loved to read and write and that is how I mostly spend my free time (which is about 5 mins a week at the moment!)
Despite encouragement from my year 11 English teacher to persue my interest in literature, I studied science which lead to a degree majoring in Chemistry followed by a Diploma in Education.  This meant I could join the Air Force as an Education Officer.  I did this and commenced my working career in 1992.  I left Perth for my first posting to  Wagga Wagga and a further 12 years in the  Air Force that ended with the commencement of motherhood and living in half renovated houses .  I now have 4 children.  A girl and three boys (and about to move into another renovated house! thankfully we did not live in the house through this one).
I learnt so much about people in the Air Force and some of the lessons were so invaluable I wanted to make sure my children learnt them as early as possible. Based on what I think my children need to survive as successful and emotionally robust humans, I developed my Personal Parenting Mission Statement as follows: “I want my children to feel secure and happy with themselves and to develop their own sense of self awareness. I want them to develop strategies to overcome any perceived deficiencies in their emotional states so as to enable them to become the person they may want to be and/or to be able to accept the person they are. I want them to have the tools they need to set them on the path to self actualisation.” With this parenting mission statement and philosophy in mind and evidence to support that there was a lack of children’s literature which adequately adopted this philosophy I became increasingly inspired to finally fulfil my long term ambition to write. Clara is the first in 10 stories I have in mind that aim to assist parents to develop their child’s emotional intelligence.  It was written primarily for my third child who does not cope well with change and new situations. He loved it and I hope other children and parents do too!

My six year old son said he enjoyed this book because of the funny expressions on the faces in the illustrations and the silly joke about the giggly cloud. He does however prefer a story that is more exciting and/or full of rude humour! I think this book is written for the quieter child and in that context it works just fine- it also did create a chance for me to ask him if he had any worries and so it is a good way to begin a conversation on the subject.

My three year old daughter just loved the book. On the day it arrived we read in several times then she roped in a visitor to read it to her again-twice more. She is at the age that we cannot read a book without a thousand questions but we actually got through it without as many as usual-loved the giggling cloud!

    Thanks so much.

My sons enjoyed reading this book.
There are lots of colourful pictures that they loved to explore, they particularly liked the pelicans andairplaness.

The message that this book brings is a lovely one, my eldest son is 3 and I am not sure that he quite understood the moral, but defiantlytly a book that we will continue to read, and a tool that I will use to stem aworryinging that my boys do.

absolutely loved this book, i read it both to my 3yr old little miss and 5yr old little man, my son enjoyed it and said he loved the pictures in the book. I have noticed he took alot of the book in when he often says to me “not to worry mum” and he even took it to school so he could share with his class (he’s in rep) and they all agreed it was an excellent book, even the teachers :) overall fantastic book thankyou so much for including us in this review it was a great experience!! and would highly recommend to all families if they have little worriers in there house :)

My 3.5 year old son and I loved reading this book. He enjoyed the illustrations, asking lots of questions! He could relate well to Clara being a worry bee himself. Would recommend the book to others with pre-school and primary school children.

Having a child that worrys constantly is so distressing. I found this book a very valuable aid to the gradual process of helping my child become less afraid of new things. She thought it was a really cute book and could easily understand the message. Thankyou Kylie Cimen and MoM!!

This book was exactly what i needed. My 5 year old son was showing alot of anxiety over things that hadnt happened and i even attended a child physchologist who couldnt seem to help. Over time it improved but there are instances i need to remind him not to worry about things. This book helped alot in that when he now raises concerns about things i can say, “Remember Clara the Worry Cloud and how she worried about things she didnt need to?” This realerted him to the book and turned the situation around. I am very grateful i received this book as a gift to try and i thank the author for giving me another tool with which to work with my son – hopefully over time his anxiety disappears. Its a lovely read

We have this book at home and it is just beautiful. My miss nearly 3 loves the pictures and enjoys the story especially the tickles. We even bought one for her little friend who is a bit more reserved in his personality and since reading it he has come out of his shell. A big thanks to Kylie for such a wonderful book.

Hi Carly, Kylie wrote this book for ‘pre-school aged children’ but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to start early.

Ok thanks. I might leave this one for the mums with kids that age. I’ll keep it in mind for when my little one is old enough though, looks like a good book.

perfect timing! My 4yr old is very worried about the state of the world, we don’t watch news but she still manages to hear things… *sigh* even going to pre school is a worry for her these days.
