The message of Clara Worry Cloud is for children not to worry about things that have not yet happened. A simple, clear message, yet so important in childhood and throughout life. Clara Worry Cloud has had great response.
Here’s a little bit of background from the author of Clara Worry Cloud …
I am a Perth born, flower power child, born in the VERY early 70′s. I have always loved to read and write and that is how I mostly spend my free time (which is about 5 mins a week at the moment!)
Despite encouragement from my year 11 English teacher to persue my interest in literature, I studied science which lead to a degree majoring in Chemistry followed by a Diploma in Education. This meant I could join the Air Force as an Education Officer. I did this and commenced my working career in 1992. I left Perth for my first posting to Wagga Wagga and a further 12 years in the Air Force that ended with the commencement of motherhood and living in half renovated houses . I now have 4 children. A girl and three boys (and about to move into another renovated house! thankfully we did not live in the house through this one).
I learnt so much about people in the Air Force and some of the lessons were so invaluable I wanted to make sure my children learnt them as early as possible. Based on what I think my children need to survive as successful and emotionally robust humans, I developed my Personal Parenting Mission Statement as follows: “I want my children to feel secure and happy with themselves and to develop their own sense of self awareness. I want them to develop strategies to overcome any perceived deficiencies in their emotional states so as to enable them to become the person they may want to be and/or to be able to accept the person they are. I want them to have the tools they need to set them on the path to self actualisation.” With this parenting mission statement and philosophy in mind and evidence to support that there was a lack of children’s literature which adequately adopted this philosophy I became increasingly inspired to finally fulfil my long term ambition to write. Clara is the first in 10 stories I have in mind that aim to assist parents to develop their child’s emotional intelligence. It was written primarily for my third child who does not cope well with change and new situations. He loved it and I hope other children and parents do too!

We have this book at home and it is just beautiful. My miss nearly 3 loves the pictures and enjoys the story especially the tickles. We even bought one for her little friend who is a bit more reserved in his personality and since reading it he has come out of his shell. A big thanks to Kylie for such a wonderful book.

Have replied to the email, hoping to be one of the lucky ones, my little boy and I love book time
-
oh me too! It sounds like a good book
-
What age would you recommend this book/review for? My bub is almost 14months.
-
Hi Carly, Kylie wrote this book for ‘pre-school aged children’ but I guess it wouldn’t hurt to start early.
-
Ok thanks. I might leave this one for the mums with kids that age. I’ll keep it in mind for when my little one is old enough though, looks like a good book.

perfect timing! My 4yr old is very worried about the state of the world, we don’t watch news but she still manages to hear things… *sigh* even going to pre school is a worry for her these days.

There are lots of colourful pictures that they loved to explore, they particularly liked the pelicans andairplaness.
The message that this book brings is a lovely one, my eldest son is 3 and I am not sure that he quite understood the moral, but defiantlytly a book that we will continue to read, and a tool that I will use to stem aworryinging that my boys do.
