Olive oil has been used throughout the centuries to create delicious dishes. However, Olive oil has many other uses which you may be unaware of.

1. Natural make up remover

To get rid of even the thickest make up, simply dab a small amount on a cotton ball, and all of last night’s makeup will come right off!

2. Metal lubricant

Squeaky doors are annoying, and you have told your partner a thousand times to fix it. But wait! Put that WD-40 down and simply reach for the olive oil. It can be applied onto metal hinges as a natural way to lubricated squeaky hinges.

3. Close shave

Add some olive oil to your lather when shaving your legs. The oil will help create a barrier between your leg and the razor, which will make shaving feel slick and smooth.

4. Hair conditioner

Hair products can be super expensive and full of harsh chemicals. If you want a natural and effective way to clean and moisturise your hair, reach for the olive oil. All you need to do is apply two tablespoons of olive oil to damp hair, massage into roots and ends, and leave for 30 minutes to an hour. Wash thoroughly with warm water after.

5.  Sticker remover

Drop a small amount of olive oil onto the sticker and allow to sit for five minutes, the sticker should peel right off!

6. Chewing gum remover

If you have chewing gum stuck anywhere, such as in a child’s hair, work some olive oil through it to help it come out.

7. Lice treatment

Apply a liberal amount of olive oil to the affected hair, and comb out knits using a fine toothed comb. After this, wash the hair under warm water. Once the hair is clean, apply more olive oil and leave to sit under a shower cap for 8 hours.

  • The nits one I will have to keep in mind! So far we’ve been lucky enough to avoid them in school outbreaks.
And the shampoo/conditioner one sounds interesting – although with 3 little ones (one being 4 weeks old) I don’t usually plan when I’m showering an hour before! Maybe when master 4 weeks and miss 2.5 are both a little older!
