A very pregnant Anne Hathaway surprised her Instagram followers on Sunday by posting an out of character photo of herself at the beach.

Expecting her first child with her husband Adam Shulman, the actress acknowledged that she didn’t normally share photos of herself in revealing outfits such as a bikini.

“Happy 2016 to my beautiful Instafriends!” the 33-year-old wrote,

“So, posting a bikini pic is a little out of character for me, but just now while I was at the beach I noticed I was being photographed.

 

“I figure if this kind of photo is going to be out in the world it should at least be an image that makes me happy (and be one that was taken with my consent. And with a filter :)”

Finishing her post, Anne wrote:

“Wishing you love, light and blessings for the year ahead!”

The intimate photo shows Anne having fun on the beach, cradling her baby bump in a red two piece bikini and smiling proudly as the waves crash behind her.

The international star usually posts short snippets from her daily life, including selfies, quotes and cute animals on her Instagram account.

The Daily Mail reports that the candid photo that Anne shared with her 1.8 million followers has delighted fans worldwide.
