A VERY healthy alternative to store bought chips! Great to add some crunch to a salad or just to eat as a snack, kale chips are great for any meal or snack!

How do you make them??

Make them on the day, to eat on the day – they don’t tend to stay crisp for too long in an airtight container.

You have a couple of options as well, to suit every taste!

Ingredients

  • A bunch of Curly Kale – I use 1-2 sticks of it – depending on what you are making them for
  • Salt to taste – not too much, just a sprinkle
  • You could also use – paprika, pepper, chilli, cumin, cayenne pepper – or a mixture of some or all of them! Just a sprinkle though.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil or coconut oil or you could try a spray of oil

How to cook it

  1. Preheat on oven to 180 degrees C
  2. Line a tray with some baking paper
  3. Break the kale off the stalk and put into a bowl
  4. Add your flavours of choice – not too much though, just a sprinkle!
  5. Rub all the oil and flavours into the kale
  6. Lay out on the tray
  7. Cook in the hot oven until crunchy and slightly brown – between 5-10mins!
  • I would be interested in trying these. Either gonna love or hate them

  • This is really simple. I’ve not yet tried kale. I’ve heard mixed responses from people who have eaten it and as a result, I’ve not felt the need to try it.

  • Thanks for sharing – but there is no way kale can be made edible for me. I have tried it many ways – all as bad as one another.

  • We make this all the time and for many years and don’t get bored. My kids love it too.Make sure that after you wash the kale you dry it very well, otherwise it become sloppy while baking.
We do the same with beetroot and sweet potato.

    • Btw we use the whole bunch of kale, not just 1-2 sticks of it. I could just eat it as my dinner as well :)

      • Always a good tip to completely dry and remove any excess water.

  • You can also use a dehydrator keeping it \\\’raw\\\’ be careful not to cook too much it will crumble. Many other recipes are online. Great way to get some greens into you and kids usually like it too.

  • Love these with curry powder. When kale is cheap I get some as my children love them but they have theirs with raw sugar for a sweet taste.
