How to clean your white canvas shoes:

What you’ll need:

  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide
  • Old toothbrush

Instructions:

1. Mix the baking soda, water and hydrogen peroxide in a bowl until combined.

 

2. Dip an old toothbrush in the mixture and rub into shoes.

 

3. Repeat with a second coat of mixture.

4. Soak laces in bowl of mixture.

 

5. Place shoes outside in the sun for a few hours.

 

6. Bang shoes together to shake off dried mixture.

 

7. Use the toothbrush to brush any remaining mixture off.

 

 

8. Your shoes are ready for wearing.

  • interesting idea. I once tried washing sneakers in the washing machine. Wasnt a good idea to use warm water as it melted the glue and the sneakers fell apart.

  • i just chuck the shoes into the washing machine on the handwash setting and they come out looking and smelling, brand new. good video tip though

  • Thanks for your suggestion – my kids are so hard on shoes that I replace them every few months, so these days I throw them through the wash when I am doing one and they come out clean.

  • I’ve got to try this and it’s perfect timing. My husband is off for a week and needs his white canvas shoes cleaned. I’ve tried spraying them with a soaker and then putting through the washing machine. They are cleaner but not as good as this.

  • I work a lot with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide ! It’s also great for stains in the carpet. And I use Hydrogen Peroxide for cold and ear infections as well, works a treat !

  • A good tip. I usually just scrub them with a washing powder paste and rinse off before drying.
