I enjoy dessert but there’s something extra special about a dessert where you can eat the bowl too!

Check out this easy way you too can make edible chocolate bowls.

Edible chocolate dessert bowl

What you’ll need:

  • chocolate of choice
  • water balloons
  • balloon pump
  • baking paper

Method:

  1. Blow up the number of water balloons you require for bowls and then wash them carefully.
  2. Melt chocolate in a bowl over boiling water until smooth.
  3. Take chocolate off stove and keep stirring while letting it cool to room temperature.
  4. On a tray covered with baking paper, put a tablespoon dot of chocolate on the paper.
  5. Dip one of your balloons in the chocolate and then place it on top of the chocolate you put on the baking paper.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 with the other balloons.
  7. Leave to set – this will take about half an hour.
  8. Gently snip the top off the balloons and remove from bowls.
  9. Gently remove bowls from baking paper and dish them up with fruit or ice cream of your choice.
  10. Serve them up to your friends and family and they’ll be amazed.

  • I dont want to rain the parade but I wonder if this would add nasty chemicals to the chocolate…hhmm Probably not enough to worry about I guess unless you were doing this on a daily basis.

    • I agree. I would be concerned about the heat of the chocolate leeching into the balloon and it releasing chemicals into it.

      • I also wonder how clean the outside of a balloon is as they were not designed for this. But hey it does look amazing.
