Hello!

Spring often signals vibrant health or what many of us refer to as Wellness.

Wellness takes many various forms for different people. But what we probably all agree on is that wellness is a combination of many factors in our lives that need to be balanced.

What I’d really like all of us to do right now is to close our eyes and ponder on what wellness means for each one of us. Go on, I’ll wait.

If you’re anything like me, I consider wellness a fluid, seamless movement between my emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing, each aspect buoying the other one when the time is right, or I simply need to focus on one more than the other at any given particular moment.

When I did a search on the exact meaning of Wellness, I was happy to see that I wasn’t that far off the mark with this handy little definition by the National Wellness Institute.

On a personal level, wellness for me is closely tied to the integrated unity of my seven chakras. Basically, if I’m content in all areas, I believe that my wellness is at its optimum. But often however, this is easier said than done.

Wellness has a nice ring to it but…

It isn’t always that easy to achieve. Let’s be honest with ourselves, positive thoughts and wellness often go hand in hand but there isn’t a simple roadmap to having them all the time! There are many out there who scoff at the benefits and validity of the “positive thinking” concept but I always remember what my parents tell me every time I start wondering about its true efficacy – there’s no way positive thinking is going to harm me, right? So what’s the harm in thinking my life is great and that it will only get better? None.

Having said this, there are definite moves we can make in our life to help us think more positively, and in turn increase our wellness.

It’s hard to be positive about your future and overall health when you’re not feeling your best so here are some quick remedies you can adopt today to give yourself a fighting chance.

Give your gut a Spring Cleaning!

I know it sounds simple enough but so many of us go for the easier, quicker option when it comes to crunch time (no pun intended!). McDonalds is such a fast, cheap option when you’re stressed out after your boss kept you back at the office. By the time you get home, it’s going to be nine, your children are going to be yelling while clutching their stomachs making proclamations of dying from starvation and to top it all off, your favourite show is about to start. I know, I know – been there, done that. You ease your pangs of guilt by saying you’ll start afresh next time, exactly what you said a week ago when the same crisis hit.

Organic Foods are a great way to make sure you and your families are getting the nutrition your bodies’ need, exactly the way Mother Nature intended. With a minimal amount of chemicals, pesticides and other nasties, Organic raw ingredients are a wonderful, no fuss way to make sure you’re promoting wellness from within. Local health food outlets and Cooperatives not only make sure your gruellingly earned money is staying in your community, you’re also supporting hard working individuals who are trying to work with Nature rather than against her.

What’s that metaphor again? It takes 21 days to make a habit. Sure, cooking fresh may seem like hard work (because it is honestly) but like all good things, it’s worth it. Before you know it, that big yellow M on a red background is going to make your stomach churn. And all without those extra calories you didn’t invite along for the ride.

Use Natural Products to care for your Spring Skin

Your skin is the largest organ of your body. What we put on it is rapidly absorbed into our system which means you want to be as closely aligned to our natural surroundings as possible. When you feel great on the inside, it shows on the outside because beauty is not only skin deep, it’s a reflection of what you feel like within.

Though our beautiful radiance has to do with many varying aspects, like enough sleep, a positive outlook, minimal stress and much more, our daily personal care regime is one of those easy fixes that requires little (if any) brain juice and that’s got to be a positive!

It’s no wonder that large multinationals such as Kora Organics, Aveda and Sukin are fast turning to a more organic way of life, it’s good for you. Many Companies have been tailoring their personal care and food ingredients around the organic concept for years for one main reason – they really do believe that using nature to heal our natural bodies is the best option human beings have.

As a word of caution however, make sure you read the labels before you purchase, even larger corporations with big backing have got in trouble for not being as natural as they claim.
