Police are investigating after a child was involved in hit and run in Sydney’s south west.

A seven-year-old boy was hit by a red Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback while crossing Valley Road, Campbelltown at about 3.05pm (Monday 9 May 2016).

Police have been told the female driver stopped briefly before leaving the scene without rendering assistance.

The boy was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Campbelltown Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Officers from Campbelltown Local Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Police would like to speak to the driver who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

She is described as being of Caucasian appearance with an olive complexion and long brown hair.

Anyone with information or witnessed the incident is urged to come forward and contact Campbelltown Police Station on 4620 1199 or Crime Stoppers.

  • Though very wrong – she is probably young and scared. To think you may have hit and killed someone. .. glad the child is ok

  • That’s really bad! Run over a small child and can’t even be bothered to hang around to wait and see if he’s ok :/

  • I hope his OK. I also hope they get the driver, how can you not render assistance after accident especially when child was involved.


    • I hope the boy makes a full recovery, not only physically but physologically too.
      I hope they catch the driver. She will get a few charges for her action.
      Not only the actual accident but leaving the scene of the accident and failing to render assistance. Hopefully somebody got the car registration number and the driver will be tracked down. I just hope it isn’t a stolen car.
