Jennifer Hudson lost her mother, nephew and brother in a horrific 2008 murder for which her sister’s estranged husband has been given 3 life sentences for. The Oscar and Grammy winner recently opened up in an interview with Glamour magazine on the tragedy and how her son saved her life.

The 34 year old, who is engaged to David Otunga said “I went from being an aunt, having a mom, and being a child to not having a mom, becoming a mom, and raising my own child, I tell David all the time, “You saved my life.””

Though the aftermath was very difficult for the singer, she says that she came out stronger in the end and says that “you never know how much you can get through, until you’re going through it”.

Jennifer credits her son David, 6, for being her main source of love and strength after his arrival in 2009.

  • Kids do gave a massive impact on our lives. I have been saddened when I speak to young mums, 16-17, when they say their babies saved their lives. How bad can their lives have gotten so young? And why don’t they try going to school and studying instead?
