Hello!

Does anyone have any tips on a reliable desktop PC that’s reliable and stable for PC-gaming? My lad’s laptop is not up to the task apparently. Maybe I should confirm that first! Perhaps just a ruse to get me to purchase unnecessarily! Lol.

  • Could be a ruse for a better comp :) Like the time hubby talked me into a game console for our kids when I thought they were too young. “Great to teach hand eye co ordination!” Hmmm, could have been, if dad ever got off and let them play it!!!

  • That’s interesting about the 15 year old boy went to a local computer shop where they build computers for you! Cool!

  • Make sure it has alot of memeory. Laptops are definitely not good for gaming – the IT guy at work told me that.

  • also depends on the type of game that he will be playing. Some need really good graphics cards etc but if you have an eb games, ask someone there and they can give you advice

  • My Macbook Pro is freaking awesome.. However my husband’s Alienware laptop is heaps better for games! He got it mainly for gaming, and creating games.

  • Depending on how old the laptop is, that is probably right. Laptops are not really meant for gaming, in saying that, there are new ones currently out that are specifically for gaming. It also depends on what kind of games he wants to be playing. What have you currently got?

  • My 15 year old son and I went to a local computer shop where they build computers for you – to meet your requirements. They talked to my son about what he needed, what games he plays and a whole lot of technical gaming questions I have no idea about, then built him a computer. He say’s its brilliant and they offer excellent follow up servicing and are available to help, offer advice and clean the computer (get rid of any dust) regularly. While it wasn’t cheap (his birthday and Christmas present combined!) it’s been great.

  • Depends on how old your son is… Mine just bought himself a desktop specially built with fast speed and before this he had a Gaming Laptop with Alienware installed. Check out http://alienware.com.au for specifications and match up what you have and what he may need.

  • Most laptops aren’t really designed for regular gaming and don’t perform well, overheat quickly etc. He could get a desktop PC built for what he needs and it would probably work out the cheapest otherwise brands like Alienware specialise in gaming computers and it’s worth spending a little more than a regular computer/laptop to get your money’s worth on something that will last and is designed for regular gaming use.
