Hello!

How do I get rid of that greasy film in my washing machine especially around the agitator?

  • Run a cycle with just two cups of vinegar.

  • Some washing machines have a cleaning cycle. If not, vinegar and bicarb on a hot cycle should help.

  • I have cleaned my washing machine with a cup of bleach on hot water cycle and empty. The only time I use the hot water cycle and use fabric softener with very wash except when I was my towels. Keeps it nice and clean.

  • Vinegar and bicarbonate soda once every few weeks keeps mine clean and healthy looking.

  • I was told about a product called Tricleanium and use to use it years ago and unsure if it is still available. I now use Napisan on full hot wash. Works for me.

  • I also use Vinegar on hot cycle in an empty machine. The machine is quite old but this seems to keep it clean.

  • Vinegar and Bicarb work the best. Run a load and give the machine a good wipe out.

  • I love the suggestions of using viniger in it for a empty cycle, but make sure its set to hot. But as soon as its finished wipe down the inside of the machine with a wet cloth, also get to the yucky bits of with a old toothbrush or a scrubbing brush if you do this straight after the cycle while it still wet inside it should come off a lot easier. Once it done do this once a month to stop it from building up again.

  • Mine has a “bowl clean option” …which runs for 3hrs!! I put bicard soda in the powder dispenser, white vinegar in the softener eection and run a cycle when I can… but generally doing 3 or more loads a day so it’s not often. Really love my washing machine – it doesn’t have an agitator

  • Try using white venegar in your washing machine. Do a wash with nothing but vinegar in the water to clean and on a regular basis use the white be what instead of fabric softener. This will keep cleaning the machine and it will keep for the grease all while acting like fabric softener.

  • Try doing an empty wash cycle but add vinegar to the detergent compartment

  • There was a great article on this exact topic on the site a few days ago.

  • After my partner’s work clothes l wash in hot water with a scoop and clean the lint!

  • A few years ago , a technician had to come to fix our washing machine. She said the best thing to do is put in a box of bicarb soda and do a wash without any clothes in it. This will get rid of all the grime inside the machine . I did it and it looked clean after that .

  • vinegar and baking powder
