Hello!

I’m a young mother who just can’t lose that extra baby weight I put on during pregnancy. I have joined a gym and eat quite healthy. I’m always active playing with my son or working. I have tried many shakes and diets but I just can’t seem to lose the belly and leg weight. Any mums have any good ideas to help me?  Or yummy new recipes for me to try. TIA.

  • Have you tried intermittent eating? I found it to be slow going, but did work for me while I was sticking to it. Once I gave up the weight came back on. It might be worth giving it a try and you might have more success than I did.

  • It doesn’t happen fast. YOu’re doing all the right things – maybe try to step up your exercise levels a bit. That made th biggest difference to me.

  • There’s some fantastic recipes right here in MoM which are really healthy and delicious but also hole healthy eating plans and heaps will show up. Good luck!

  • I put on weight due to medication and being a independent consultant which the company has now gone into health shakes. Ive tried this and got doctors okay to do so. So was good to be able to get the products and try them and I have already started to lose some weight. Not only that I normally don’t feel like eating so this has helped me get vitamins and minerals I needed. I found some of the other shakes ive try made me feel sick. So now going to get Hubby on to lose the pot belly.

  • I base it on a weight loss regime I have a while ago. It was a book from dr John tickled. The more processed the food is the worse it is for you. Obvious right! Even some of the foods you think my be good for you generally aren’t as they have been overhandeled. Try eating foods in the purest form. Lots of steamed foods. Lightly grilled etc. but make sure you still include some not so good foods for you every five days or so. Helps your body learn to process them and get rid of them instead of storing it. I lost 25 kgs doing this.
I am now doing the same thing now. As I lost the baby weight through anxiety then it can back so on the healthy train!, also try to change your exercise routine every time. Shake it up. If you do the same things everyday your body won’t respond towards the end.
    Good luck!

  • I was doing an app called the virtually gastric band app. they have a facebook page called easy loss. I find that helped. im still breast feeding so im lucky I can eat more

  • I had another baby and after the second was born I dropped all my baby weight from both because I kept forgetting to eat lunch. Doh! I also go for an evening walk which includes pushing the kids up huge hills in the pram.

  • yeah take bub for a walk and try less processed foods. if you are breastfeeding, just be careful about your diet. don’t stress, you will get there

  • You can stick to eating raw fruit and veg for 4 wks…and lots of situps, its the only way to get a flat tummy back.

  • I have found just doing a 30 minute walk everyday has helped me to lose the last few kilos and has also given me my tummy back as while im walking im doing pelvic floor exercises.

  • I wouldn’t be trying diets or shakes I would try clean eating.

  • start eating super clean. it will fall off. i also downloaded the app ‘couch to 5km’ its awesome and really works!!!

  • With my 3rd baby I gained 17kgs, lost it with myfitnesspal within 8 months. just over a year on and I have gained it ALL back including the baby weight part without having the baby inside :( I went back to old habits and stopped calorie counting. What I suggest is do it slow and something you can maintain. Allow for treats and even if its a few hundred grams a week it will stay off if you are just making small changes rather then big ones that you may not stick too.

  • I think everyone is different, so whilst this works for me, you may need to find your own special equation – when you actually have time, walk a lot! If you can manage to do strength training x2 per week plus cardio x2 per week this will definitely help. But the diet is a big part for me – lots of water, no soft drink or alcohol and I limit complex carbs especially at dinner time – steak, chicken, fish with veges, casseroles, stir frys (not a lot of pasta, rice, bread and potato). For lunch – fruit with lo fat yoghurt and salads with tuna or chicken, cubes of cheese, olives, artichokes. If you have a sweet tooth – a small piece of dark choc, mini protein bar or a weight watchers bar really hits the spot but are low in fat.

  • 3 green tea’s a day and oats for breakfast with rice milk. Lunch steamed fish and vegies. walk everyday for 40 mins and also uphill.
