Hello!

Was speaking to my husband last night and said that sometimes it’s hard to stay positive about things. I’ve started nutrimetics from home and can only really rely on family and friends and leaving books at their work etc. Put things on facebook but not really getting much response. I love the products and since going through leukemia is a good way I thought to earn some money while I’m still in recovery. I just cant seem to sell things or even get people to look online. I try to stay positive and just say least I get some free products when I put in my order. How do others stay positive when things get you down?

  • It is hard to get up and going when you face setbacks. But if you share with your friends and family, and they share with their friends and family who share with their friends and family, word soon spreads. Facebook isn’t a great way either. Doing letterbox drops round the neighbourhood is a good way to spread the word. Or even door knocking with samples of your products

  • you don’t need to stay positive all the time, everyone is allowed to get down sometimes as long as you don’t bottle it up.

Selling products like Nutrimetics or Tupperware is difficult until you get a customer base that you can get regular orders. Have you tried dropping brochures at day care centres or schools for the teachers to look at or hosting a party for the people on your street and their friends.

  • I find writing cathartic, and from what I’ve seen from the questions you’ve posted on MoM, you express yourself beautifully through words.

Why not write some articles for MoM? You can share your experiences, knowledge, helpful tips – and even link your business website at the bottom under your profile. If you don’t want to talk about personal experiences, maybe learning new things and putting your new-found info into helpful articles would also be a way to relax and enjoy something new.

Party plan is really hard for anyone, even at the best of times. Maybe focus on developing something else you enjoy (like writing if you do, or art, or baking, photography, etc) and learn a whole lot more about it. Really immerse yourself in it and have fun, and see where it takes you. You could even do a short course by correspondence – they are generally inexpensive and can be really fun. A whole new world could open up to you.

If writing is your thing articles could be great and you could also check out Sourcebottle.com and become a source for media seeking comment or opinion on various things (you don’t need to be an expert to have an opinion!).

Hope this helps (sorry if it doesn’t…wish I could give you a big hug right now).

  • Thanks great advice and yes what I have been through and am grateful love spending time with family and sitting outside with the dog. As I couldn’t do that for a while so the little things are great. My web link is http://www.nutrimetics.com.au/tracybaker or can like my facebook page is under Tracy’s Nutrimetics (has picture of shower gel as my profile) Thanks xx Happy Days x

  • i think that you are trying really hard! you have to think positive and don’t rely on others to make you happy. I am sure that what you have been through that you appreciate what you have. We all have ups and downs but i think that you are on the right track. As for your job, just try and get yourself out there. Ask hairdressers and businesses to display your pamphlets in exchange for your giving your clients a recommendation to go to their business. Shopping centres, corner stores, school noticeboards could look better with your flyer on it lol . Do a flyer drop around your local area and get some fresh air and exercise. I don’t know if you are allowed to drop the link to your site here on mom’s but a lot of us would love to check out your facebook page. Maybe email nikki and see if that is allowed. Alot of people give out samples which will definately attract attention to you. Advertise on gumtree that you will do parties etc

  • may be make a small note book and put in picture / photos / poems / magazine cut out pictures of things which make you happy or smile or even laugh, like funny jokes or words which trigger happy memories so every time you are feeling down you can flick through your book to get you to a better place. good luck.

  • When I am struggling to stay positive I just try to be thankful for the things I have – family, friends, etc.

  • Oh yes I know how lucky I am you just have to go to the Cancer center and see that. Sadly to say but there is always someone worse off.

  • Also; when you are feeling down I would suggest getting out and doing some exercise; maybe walking and the bonus is you could drop off catalogues/business cards. Enjoy some of your other hobbies and interests; being involved in your passions is good for your overall well being. Eat well and get plenty of sleep too. :)

  • think of all the terrible things in the world an how lucky I am to be alive and well
have you considered anti depressants? they help me cope better

  • I wonder if you know about Buy Sell and Swap sites on Facebook in your local area. Some of these sites are great for selling your products. Pick three best sellers buy say 5-6 of these and sell them on theses sites. Pick up is at your home. You can then pop a catalogue in their purchase. Easter Mother’s Day will be here soon put a few items together wrap in cellphone and package nicely and take a photo put a price on it and sell on these sites. Good luck stay positive…. be creative!

  • It is true endorphins release in body with exercise. Take walks. Eat healthy. Don’t be hard on yourself!! Biggest thing.

  • I have noticed plenty of party plan catalogues for Tupperware, Avon, Nutri-Metics and books at many hairdressers and other shops. Maybe look at this as another option? I always look at the catalogues at my hairdresser and purchase items as it does support locals. Some people also do door to door drop offs of catalogues. However; with your recovery this may be exhausting? Also; have you asked for advice from Nutri-Metics for ideas on selling products? This may be a good idea? Wishing you the best with your recovery and I hope your business attracts customers. Good Luck! :)

  • Oh I love Nutrametics. I joined for the discount of what I bought. I am also not confident at selling, a fried of mine teamed up with another lady selling Tupperware and they had joint parties. It works for them. You might like to have a market stall, even if shared with a friend. You may like to offer a feet treat party to people in their work place, such as Child Care Workers, school teachers etc don’t forget to get permission to have a make up ans skin care class at highschools, young ladies can start out with good products. You might like to have mother daughter demonstration and don’t forget to have permission to have a demonstration at nursing homes for the aged population. As well as buying for themselves, they may like to buy for gifts. Staff at these places may enjoy the opportunity to become customers as well. Don’t forget the male population, men are great customers and like shopping that comes to them and they also like the products for themselves. The nutura rich apricot oil is excellent to stop the discomfort of leg chafing. My husband came home from 10 day hiking and canoeing trip and he was very chafed and this gave him instant relief.

  • Yes people don’t have much money but they still spend at shops on worthless products. They might get cheap but don’t last that long so in the end you are not saving.
