Hello!

Hi everyone just wanted some advice. My daughter is getting her son christened and they are trying to word the invitations. They are heading back to the local hotel beer garden for a BBQ lunch which will be provided however due to finances drinks wont be. We know everyone will be fine this with but would still like to word politely on invites. Any suggestions?

  • I see this is an old question. How did she end up wording it ?

  • Straight out with it. Your christening, your finances, totally up to you what you do and don’t pay for

  • Something like……BBQ provided at local pub, drinks are up to you. I don’t think it’s rude to expect guests to buy their own drinks, so don’t feel bad about asking

  • I think mom56842 has worded it clearly and politely.

  • Just simply put bbq food provided, byo alcoholic drinks if desired otherwise softdrink supplied…

  • You can buy Christening invitations in any newsagent. Just fill in the gaps.

  • On this special occasion food will be provided we just ask if you would like alchol please BYO to our event. Thanks

  • As sterotypical as it sounds try google. Its what we did when creating the christening invites for both our children and were given a variety of wordings

  • i love the last suggestion. make a joke that you need to feed another mouth

  • Please join us at… (venue) lunch will be provided, and a bar will be available for those who wish to purchase alcoholic beverages..

If it’s BYO change the wording to BYO instead :)

  • A BBQ lunch will be provided, guests who wish to purchase beverages will be able to do so at the bar. Sounds like a great idea to me!

  • We had it in our backyard a BBQ and we wrote on the bottom of our invitation, water, juice and fizzy drink will be provided but please BYOG (bring your own grog).

  • Well said by the other moms. Polite and informative and everyone will understand.

  • BYOG – buy your own grog. But the first suggestion is very good!

  • I’m taking you are meaning alcoholic beverages & soft drinks are included? I like the suggestions other MoM’s have made.
