Hello!

Why since my 19 month old was sick will she not self settle anymore? – My 19 month old daughter got sick about 3 months ago. Now she won’t go to sleep by herself anymore. The only way she will sleep is if we take her for a drive. We have tried letting her cry it out but she cries so much she vomits and then it’s change sheets and in the car. I am so tired. She’s not going down until around 10pm each night and then will wake up at 3am unable to put herself back down. Also when I mention bed or try to put her in her cot she clings to me and whimpers. Some nights I am getting only 4 hours sleep. (Which over a week is not good) Please any advice would be greatly appreciated. I want my sleep and my sanity back!

  • Oh dear! This sounds so familiar – is it sorted out now? Babies change all the time. We had a great sleep routine and then overnight it changed. Not sure what triggered it but we’ve had similar problems to you ever since.

  • is she going on now>?

  • there are some good comments here

  • how is she now ?

  • Teething at 19 mo?? What??

  • she could be teething to oxoxoxox

  • hope is is well now and you are both back into a routine.

  • Is she settling better for you now?

  • how is it going now?

  • we had a problem with mine and she too would only fall asleep in the car. my husband was the master of extracting her from her car seat and then we were able to get her into bed. She’d wake for a bottle but then go back to sleep.

  • How is she settling now?

  • How is she now? :)

  • Good luck and I hope it works better for you now

  • Hope this situation has worked itself out for you

  • Poor little darling just wants her mama. I let all of my babies fall asleep on my lap and then transferred them to bed from there. Its not for everyone but they grow up in no time then they don’t want mum any more so I took every opportunity I could to snuggle each one of them and hold them when they slept. My older two I have to hold down for snuggles now and they constantly try and get away so I don’t regret sitting and holding them for a minute! The house cleaning or whatever else I wanted to do just wasn’t as important as those amazing times of snuggling and looking at their sweet little sleeping faces.
