Hello!

Has anyone ever had a staph infection in their nose? I’ve had it now three times in the last 12 months I’ve been given antibiotics each time to clear it up but they said that’s all they can do. Has anyone had this before and what did you do to stop it happening?

  • I got it once when I worked in a hospital and had to get a prescription cream to clear it up I always wash my hands or use sanitizer now and am careful around people who are sick or have compromised health.

  • Definitely get a second opinion about preventing a re-occurrence.

  • ask your doc for advice on preventing it.

  • I agree with Damish, a topical treatment applied inside the nose might get to the source. It is frustrating. There are specialists you can ask to get a referral to from your GP.

  • I’d go see an ENT specialist & try a topical ointment

  • My brother had it and it kept coming back. From memory he was referred to a specialist and it finally cleared up. Good luck and I hope you find an answer quickly.

  • Poor you – how unpleasant. Maybe a referral to a specialist?

  • Ive had a staph infection and it was hard to get rid of. Boils after boils would come up. In the end. No antibiotic would work. I tried a medicine that was full on but i cant remember the name of it. Had to take it for ten days. Gave stomach pains and the shits but it worked.

  • Never in the nose, but my hubby seems to get it on his hands ocasionally about 2 a year. But i do think cleansing the nose as suggested by other mums is a good idea and natural way to try and treat it.

  • Your not going to get many GP’s to agree with me here but 15 years ago I suffered from chronic sinus infections, sinus migraines & sinus issues on a daily basis. I had been on so many Antibiotics & I was getting worse with each infection.

I was introduced to a Naturopath who used a Biofeadback machine & explained to me that I had picked up a Staph infection in the nasal passages & Staph FEEDS OFF ANTIBIOTICS. I stopped taking the antibiotics & began taking some of the other options she recommended & I can swear on both my children’s lives I HAVE NEVER HAD A SINUS INFECTION EVER AGAIN.

Side note – I’ve been to amazing, average & down right rip off merchants. Ask around until you find a highly recommended one.

  • I agree with Mom 87160 – it will certainly help and can do no harm.

  • Try using a metro pot available from pharmacies to rinse out your nasal passages with salt water. This seems difficult initially but is really quite simple. Do it a few times daily until you notice the accompanying odour has gone.
