  • I have light woolen carpet and getting stains out is a nightmare. I can’t wait to replace the carpet.

  • I have a Bissell upright carpet cleaner and it’s brilliant. Got it on special and couldn’t be happier with how well it works for the price.

  • I just discovered that you can use Eucalyptus Spray —the details are on a can of Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Spray. It is a natural one which can be used for medical reasons too. You can also use it as a cleaner, deodoriser, and to remove tar on car paintwork. There are very few products such as this that don’t damage paintwork but this doesn’t

  • Hi I have white carpets and am renting. So when a spill happens I have to be quick. But I have found even on an old stain that a product I found in Bunnings works well. It’s in a spray bottle, spray it on leave a few minutes, rub the stain. Use a towel to soak it up and it’s so much better. It also smells citrus like lemon etc so not too potent. It’s called long life carpet cleaner and also comes in bigger bottles to use with carpet shampoors etc.

  • My go to cleaner for stains is eucalyptus oil or wool wash. If you have a wool carpet, eucalyptus wool wash is fantastic on most stains. I apply it diluted on an old face cloth then try not to wet the carpet too much and blot dry with an old towel.

  • Thank you for all the advice. I don’t know why but i just don’t like professional carpet cleaners. It seems they do the job but the carpets are still damp which is hard to get dry especially for high traffic areas. I have recently used the Vanish preen powder and that seems to put life in my cream coloured carpets. I haven’t used the vanish preen stain remover as i am after a carpet cleaner that removes all sorts of stains such as milk, baby spew, dirt, mud and any other stains that you can think off. A lot of people have sworn by the remedies that seem to work well for them.

  • I have had mixed results with professional cleaners on my carpets, but I have always had good success with hiring the rug doctor and using their products. It is really hard on matter which option you choose to get some of those hard to move stains out unless you work on them immediately.

  • I too need this solution. Vanish preen hasn’t worked for us

  • I use bicarbonate soda and vinegar- or lemon for a different smell. Got nailpolish out of the carpet!

  • Preen carpet cleaner is a good all rounder.

  • I’m going to get in the habit of getting our carpets professionally done once a year. So much easier and they really get all the dirt out.

  • If it’s a good clean your after I would get the professionals in

  • Bi Carb soda and vinegar are great cheap ways for all kinds of cleaning, if you do a google search you will find lists on how to use and where to use.
