Hello!

I’m wondering if you could recommend a brand of a good top loader washing machine that you have, that is fairly new and if you would recommend it or not. I am looking at purchasing a new top loader (I know that front loaders get a good mention but I am thinking of a top, due to the fact that there is no bending involved). I need the machine to be around the 7.5 kg mark. Wondering what are good brands that are easy to use and reliable. thanks so much in-advance.

  • Not sure if they still make them, but I had a Hoover that lasted 27 years.

  • as scary as it sounds, our Samsung is awesome. Do not get a Fisher and Paykel, ours caught on fire!

  • We have a 5.5kg Fischer and Paykel. Had it since the beginning of 2009, so it will be 7 next February. No problems, still going strong, although getting a little loud of late

  • we have fisher a parkle smart rive with no agitator

  • My favourite appliance in my house is my Fisher Paykel washer. I really love it and would only buy a top loader as I find it more practical as I add clothing part of the way through its cycles. It has about 7 different water levels which I find very useful. Good luck with your choice.

  • Had a Fisher & Paykel one for 10 years and it worked great. Wore out eventually as they all do but would buy the same brand again if I was to go back to a Top Loader.

  • FYI Experts agree a front loader is better – cleans better and more efficient as it uses gravity to clean. Get a Bosch. Should last decades.

  • I had a Fisher & Paykel for many years and it didn’t miss a beat even with washing for triplets in cloth nappies! My ex still has it so it must be over 14 years old. I know you said you don’t want a front loader but I have had one now for 6 years (LG) and it uses so little water compared to the top loader. Also, when my back is bad my wonderful kids empty it for me. But when my back is fine I take the opportunity to do squats! I don’t often get time to exercise!

  • I have a samsung and I love it, best washing machine I ever had, ad t has glass top so I can watch hehe

  • I have an LG fuzzy logic, 6.5 kg, it doesn’t have an agitator in the middle, so I can fit a lot more in it, I have 3 kids and I still find it big enough. I really love it, only got it about 2 yrs ago. Would highly recommend!

  • Fisher and paykel are good.

  • Fisher and Paykel.
I have used this brand for over 20 years and hardly any problems. I upgraded at the start of the year because I wanted a newer bigger machine.
    Love it.

  • Thanks heaps everyone..have read all and appreciate your time and honest comments. Please feel free to keep them coming.

  • I have a Fisher & Paykal washsmart 8kg that is less than 18 months old. I definitely recommend. It washes well, not to noisy and easy to use. I can remove the centre of the wash well for bulky items like doonas or to clean any built up lint. I had a fisher&paykal previously that also worked well and lasted 10yrs. Hoping this one lasts well too
