Welcome to MoM Community Noticeboard …

The place where mums can spread the word about a forthcoming event, a charity they are supporting or a special project they are working on.  We love seeing mums supporting each other and taking time out of their lives to make a difference!

A few notes on posting your MoM Community Noticeboard Announcement:

  1. Make the headline as descriptive as possible and include the LOCATION.  If other mums can see at a glance if it is relevant to them, more people are likely to view your notice.
  2. Short & Sweet is always good. Make your message as short and clear as possible.  It’s better to get attention with a short message and then give mums a link to find out more.
  3. Include an image if you have one – just ensure it’s smaller than 2MB.
  4. Feel free to include a link to your charity or project’s website – this will enable mums to find out more.  If you include links, your post may not show immediately because of our spam filters however we will be checking the submissions for the MoM Community Noticeboard daily and will approve all genuine community notices.

Please note: the MoM Community Noticeboard is not the place to advertise your business, your products or your services.  MoM Community Noticeboard is a free service provided purely for mums who are donating their time to help others.  To promote your business please use our Business Directory. Any businesses posting on this page for the purposes of profit will be deleted.

  • PLEASE ATTEND OUR SILENT PROTEST ON WEDNESDAY, 9 NOVEMBER IN BRISBANE (and please wear light blue for child abuse awareness).
Mason Lee’s death was horrific to say the least. What is acutely concerning is the fact that he could have been saved.
Mason was known to the Child Safety Department up to 10 months prior to his death. After his admission into hospital in Feb 2016 and a report given to Child Safety about his obvious signs of physical and sexual abuse, he was not seen to by a Child Safety Officer and continued to suffer until his death is June 2016.
Giving medical staff authority to only report abuse cases to the Child Safety Department when it is already so heavily under resourced, is just NOT good enough.
‘Act for Mason’ are here to show Government that Mason Jet Lee will continue to have a public voice. We call for bi-partisan support within Queensland government to legislate Mason Jet Lee’s Law which proposes that: No child who is referred by a doctor as having sustained injuries intentionally inflicted or sexual in nature will be sent home until a full investigation is completed. These children will be treated in the same manner as a 000 phone call: A LIFE AT RISK, and will be treated as a priority emergency.
The Child Safety System, which is designed to protect children like Mason Lee is clearly underfunded and under resourced. Using words like ‘reviews’ and ‘investigations’ only patronize the public’s intelligence.
Having MASON JET LEE’S LAW in place, will enforce that the Department of Child Safety keep up with the demand enforced by medical professionals. The hospitals will be a reliable safety check point for abused children until Child Safety fulfil their requirements to conduct a full investigation.

  • Found a great article about the effect parental smartphone use can have on children if used too frequently.

A recent study showed that parents who get distracted during playtime by phones or other technology may cause their children to have shorter attention spans. here’s the full article – http://onecapehealthnews.com/put-down-your-phone-and-help-your-toddler-focus/
