Mouths of Mums

Moms helping mums

Recently, Mouths of Mums teamed up with Zurich to launch the MoMs helping Mums campaign, designed to help out mums who needed a helping hand. Mums from all across Australia nominated their mum friends who had been in an accident, had experienced the death of a loved one or simply needed help from someone who
understands.

We were overwhelmed by the response from mums who wanted to help out other mums. We laughed, we cried, and we empathised with all the mums’ stories. A big thank you to all our mums and their friends who shared. After careful selection by Zurich, we can now proudly announce the special mums to whom Zurich will lend a helping hand.

Introducing the mums Zurich is going to help out:

Karen's Story

Last year Karen was diagnosed with breast cancer when her son was 6 months old whilst she was on maternity leave. Ending up with over $13,000 out of pocket, Karen and her husband found it incredibly difficult to cope as well as they could if Karen hadn’t suffered from these difficult times.

Sandy's Story

When Sandy’s first pregnancy came after four long years, her daughter suddenly passed away at two weeks. After blessed with another daughter , Sandy then had a miscarriage. Finally, she had a son named Griffin and then it was discovered that Griffin was diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy. Toni's Story

This will be the last Christmas Toni’s family will be spending time together. By next Christmas, they will all have said our ‘goodbyes’. This is because Toni’s husband has been diagnosed with bowel cancer, several surgeries and 30 weeks of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, Toni’s daughters are also sick – one has needed a liver transplant, and her other daughter was on life support for the entire month of December 2010 and not expected to live…

Robyn's Story

Late last year Robyn’s husband Tim passed away after long battles with leukaemia, thyroid cancer and cardiomyopathy. Tim was stable for the next few years and luckily they naturally conceived their first child. They were placed on the heart transplant waiting list and Tim received his amazing gift of second life March 2006, while Robyn was pregnant with their second son. They never thought that he would meet his son. Robyn and her family were lucky enough to have Tim home after a long hospital stay in Sydney when it happened.

How is Zurich helping each mum?

Thanks to Zurich, each mum will receive a $1250 EFTPOS card to buy anything from Christmas presents, to groceries, or even to pay the bills.
