When I purchased the Gourmet Traveller Cookbook, The Art Of Entertaining I expected to read about how to give more memorable celebrations and parties, both intimate and grand.
After all, that’s what the Art Of Entertaining is all about.
But all I got was recipes. Yes, good ones, but nothing about the art of entertaining.
What happened to ideas on menus, flowers, table settings (for any occasion), creating parties and seasonal parties (intimate and grand), themes, festive table displays, thoughts and secrets for successful entertaining at home. Maybe even how to host a proper afternoon tea?
Even comments on the three “must haves” to help bring entertaining to life, or the one thing you must have on the table when hosting.
Nothing on the Art Of Entertaining.

This is a beautiful magazine and is priced accordingly.
I enjoy the articles and the photography in these magazines and I have held on to some that I find interesting and I would like to read at a later date.
Only problem is the amount of advertising, considering the price you pay.
Magazine cost regarding supplement of advertising.

  • A lot of advertising!

Found this magazine to be quite aesthetically pleasing.
All of the photography of the food is beautifully curated and captured and the recipes aren’t too bad either.
Unfortunately i found that most of the pages in the magazine were advertising making it 70% ads and 30% food.
Also found that some of the recipes had ingredients that were hard to source.
Would probably be better off buying a Donna Hay mag.

Don’t look at this magazine on an empty stomach! Lol ..Showcases beautiful meals and unique recipes. Love when they do an article on a particular chef..I find it interesting to read on how the particular chef became what they are today. They also recommend different, unique and highly acclaimed restaurants. Like it as an occasional read!
