These Double Chocolate Chip Cookies are SO good – I can never make a single batch!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 Cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tspn baking soda
  • 1/4 tspn salt
  • 1 tspn Vanilla
  • 2 cups white chocolate chips or chunks
  • 3/4 cups chopped walnuts

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease cookie sheets. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, beating each one well. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa, flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir the mixture into the other bowl. Fold in white chocolate chips. Drop rounded spoonfuls onto the cookie sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes (9 minutes was perfect in my oven). Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to finish cooling.

  • Looking at chocolate recipes at 5pm isn’t ever really a good idea – luckily I don’t have these bikkies in the cupboard or I’d be all over them now. They look delicious!

  • Is there a way to substitute the sugar for something a little healthier? Seems like a lot of sugar! Makes me rethink store bought cookies.

Oh and Fahrenheit?? Rounded to 180deg Celsius to save a trip to Google.

  • It might be a great treat food – but I can just hear the children demanding more. With the amount of sugar plus chocolate = sugar, it would be over the top in this household.

  • Delish. These look so yummy and chunky. Obviously a treat, not a regular food but yummy all the same.

  • Regarding the missing flour quantity, you can find link to the actual recipe at http://www.thecooksnextdoor.com/2011_05_01_archive.html. The required amount is 1 3/4 cups of plain flour.

  • Anyone worked out if these need flour or not? Not mentioned in ingredients list but referred to in method. Don’t see a reply to queries from others.
