Beautifully written in the first person but at the expense of the secondary characters. How I would love to know their points of view.

Reading the book a second time, it is easy to note that the degeneration of Alice with undiagnosed Alzheimers had begun before the first page of the story.

A book that does not spoon feed the reader, it is perfect student material. As supported by list of discussion questions written by the author at the end of the book.

What did other readers think of this book?

  • My Mother passed away after suffering with the same condition for 3 years that we know of. Her cause of death was kidney failure and pneumonia. Her sister also passed away with the same cause of death. The story in this book pretty well told my Mother’s story with the exception of her lifestyle in respect of physical activities and teaching. At a later date I was invited to go with a friend to see the movie. I sobbed through parts of it. It was a bit too raw for me.

  • I haven’t read this book, wish I had, I still might. I have seen the movie though and it was awesome. Such a traumatic disease, puts a human face to it

  • A bit bland… Characterisation weak, different perspectives under explored.
