We are usually quite busy over Easter visiting family. This year was a little different as without much notice my in laws decided to go away. It was a little sad as our daughter is the only child in the family as the other grand children are all older teenagers. I must admit I am disappointed that they didn’t make an effort to see their grand daughter over the Easter period as they are usually only a suburb away.

  • That is a shame. Perhaps you could pay a quick visit to them and just say you happened to be in the area, so you called in so your daughter could see her lovely grand parents.

  • My son usually goes camping with his in laws for Easter. This year, he stayed home and we visited him. It was a nice time, nice family time for us

  • They may have felt that as their other grandchildren are older now it was time for them to do something for themselves this time.

  • while it wont be the same, maybe it is time to start a new tradition. After all this may have been the only time they could take the holiday they are on

  • You cannot be disappointed they do have a life to live as well and it sounds like they have been at your side every year to celebrate. I would be happy that you have them and they are still enjoying life.

  • Maybe when you see them next, you could say “……. was disappointed not to see you over Easter” If it was an unexpected trip there may have been a reason that they needed to get away.

  • Maybe there was a reason- you could always try talking to them or have your hubby have a chat to them.

  • I hope they did an early Easter for your daughter before they left…. if not and they make this a regular thing suggest to them about making a special Easter day with your daughter before they go away.

  • My inlaws who live a block away also decided to go away… It was a great chance for us to have some special time alone.
