Hi everyone I hope all is good? I’m writing this just to say how much I love my job.
I’m and Education Support Worker and I help children with special needs and I can say it’s my dream job.
Yes it’s hard and yes you get challenged but when I go home I can sleep knowing I have helped someone today..
I wanted to help children as I’ve seen what my children went through at school and home with an abusive dad(I left him years ago now) no one took notice or if Did didn’t want to help.
Since I’ve started where I am I want to go to work everyday I love seeing the smiles when I walk in and knowing I am making a difference to them all in some small way…

  • So glad all is well. I hope the positive experience continues and that you get more pleasure from helping kids, as challenging as it must be.

  • The schools all need at least one Education Support Worker. There are so many children who need to be able to confide in somebody outside of home and classroom. The problem isn’t always at home but the children may be worried about their parent/s reaction and understanding of whatever the issue is. Some parents are not very supportive and are likely to judge, lecture, deny or ignore the situation. Some need extra help with things like reading. Some Education Support Workers sometimes suggest that a child with reading or spelling difficulties may need proper assessment. I know of one parent who was suspicious her child was falling behind in reading. She approached the teacher and was told she was doing ok, not to worry about it. Beginning of the next school, different teacher had the same concerns as the parents. The parents had her assessed. She has a form of dyslexia. Her parents and her high school age brother were already helping her with her reading.

    • It’s hard when sometimes teachers don’t see or want to see what the parents do and there in lies some of the problems. But I’m glad the new teacher had the same thought and great for them all.., I wish everyone well xx
