I recently had Mr 3 year old in for surgery to get grommets done and the cost was $2,300 and my health fund told me it was pre existing and they would not cover any of this so we had to put it all on credit i disputed it as i knew it was NOT pre existing after many arguments of them trying to weasel out of paying nearly a month later we have had a win and they will cover some as they now have determined it not pre existing normally im one just to sit back and say oh well, so it pays to stand your ground with them!!!

  • It sure does pay to stand your ground and argue the point. A second opinion is handy too, especially when you think you’re right! You go girl!

  • Oh god, what a shock to your bank balance. But we’re fully prepared to do whatever it takes to keep our kids safe and healthy and give them the best life possible. I hope your bill is quickly paid off xxx

  • How crappy is that. My daughter had to have her tonsils and adnoids out last year and I was so lucky my health find covered everything I didn’t even have to pay excess for the hospital stay.

  • I will remember your story ass in ever stand up for myself and usually just accept what I’m being told. You’re right, it DOES pay to speak up.

  • Good on you! Insurance companies are so very dodgy!

  • Well done, persistence is the key, sometimes they only only give in to make you go away even when they are in the wrong. They should do the right thing in the first place but don’t always do.
