Hello!

I am surprised at the number of babies and toddlers that do not wear hats during the warm weather. It was hot yesterday and on my walk I saw mums and their children out and about and surprisingly without hats! It is important for adults and children to be protected from the sun. Please in this warm weather…..put on a hat!

  • I was really disciplined with the kids because I believed in it . So really the slip , slop , slap commercials are useless if you made up your mind it won’t matter . Just like the smoking kills you commercial, I doubt it changes anything unless you believe in it .

  • i think that people think sunscreen is all that they need. I think that you should dress the kids properly for the sun and wind factor. Babies skin can burn so quickly!

  • My daughter knows she’s not allowed outside without her hat and sunscreen on. Her dad has fair skin and burns super easily so she has grown up watching him. Kids with imitate their parents and unfortunately, most parents don’t wear hats themselves. Lead by example I say :)

  • I always forget but my toddler always reminds me he needs his hat… thanks child care for teaching him good habits.

  • I found it hard to keep hats on my babies- a lot easier once they were toddlers.

  • We also have the rule of no hat, no playing outside

  • Well said. I see a lot of that as well!

    • We have always had the rule, hat means go out, no hat means stay inside. :)

  • With the heat in these days it’s so important to wear a hat indeed.

  • Some babies and toddlers simply won’t wear a hat – for mine it was tantrums with a hat and sunscreen or no tantrum with sunscreen – I chose the no tantrum option even though I always wore a hat. As they grow they change – now hats are worn by all by choice.

  • I can’t believe what I just read! How can they be so reckless? Especially with their children’s sun safety, a hat is a priority for everyone during summer. Wake up Australia!

    • I know! I was saddened and surprised. Maybe the Slip, Slop, Slap ads need to come back! The message seemed to get through during that campaign. Kids got the message and adults too!
