Hello!

My mother in law had a period of being a pretty full on alcoholic and she was destroying relationships all around her. I am a big believer in sticking with your family through thick and thin and i have given her so many chances. She has not really spent time with our kids and she hasn’t really been a good grandmother but she has recently given up drinking. I thought that it would be nice for her to spend time with the kids so we provided her with movie tickets and some money for the day. She spent hours and hours with them and they really enjoyed it. She is picking them up tomorrow as well. I am beyond thankful that she has stopped drinking and i can see that she is back to the person that i met 10 years ago. The kids had a great time. I am glad that they spent time with her. I am hoping that she keeps it together and stays a positive part of our lives.

  • I love that you are overjoyed about something that so many people take for granted – family. It’s not until you don’t have them that you really start to notice other families around you and how supportive and close knit they seem to be. For me, to be quite honest I have always felt a pang of sadness and maybe even envy on some occasions that others have such great family around them etc

  • My kids absolutely adore my mother in law, their Nan. She puts so much time and effort into being their Nan, so loving, always has the time and nothing is too hard. She truly is a gem, no mother in law jokes or nastiness here :)

  • I think seeing her grandchildren will be a great motivator for her to stay sober!
