In an attempt to avoid ‘No jab, no play’ laws, anti-vaccine parents are using secret Facebook groups to start backyard daycare centres.
This has concerned many health authorities, given the amount of preventable diseases currently being circulated around the country. These centres could pose a major health risk for all of the children involved.
Sydney mother, Heidi Street, is one such mum. She has advertised for ‘expressions of interest’ for one of these backyard daycare centres on Vaccine Free Australia, a group with more than 5000 members.
“I would like to open a daycare in my home for 3-4 children, 2 days per week … I have 2 children … I have a strong passion for children’s health and wellbeing and have a beautiful nurturing soul,” she posted.
“Children’s days would be spent among nature, a walk to the beach, learning through play and games. Please let me know if this interests you.”
Supporters as far away as Adelaide responded to her post, some even suggesting they may also start these backyard daycare centres themselves.
