A two-year-old boy from Queensland drowned while playing hide and seek.

Elliot Michael Tate went missing on his family property near Helidon on Friday.

Mum, Tiffehnie, was preparing to take him and his younger brother to a Wiggles concert when he went missing during a game of hide and seek with his grandparents.

The two-year-old was found face down in a water tank and despite efforts to resuscitate him he couldn’t be revived.

“Elliot was a 2 year old boy who loved life, being outdoors and fixing things. The sweetest boy we’ve ever met, he has a younger brother whom he loved very much. His Mummy Tiff and Daddy Michael gave him a beautiful life full of love and adventure,” a post a Go Fund Me page reads.

“Elliot was supposed to be getting ready with his mum and brother so they could go and see the Wiggles Concert, however the outdoors loving little boy that he was decided to go out on an adventure of his own where he tragically lost his life.”

Our thoughts are with the family at this devastating time.

  • The door handles on some houses are so low that a 2 year old can definitely open them. A tall 3 year old can reach up and turn the key in some doors (yes a 3 y.o. managed to open mine). A frightening thought. At 4 1/2 y.o. he has worked out how to unlock the security door without the key. Seems strange that he managed to get into the tank. That’s what puzzles me.

  • They must feel so guilty – not that it was their fault – just. Dreadful accident.

  • we also have to lock all our doors and cabinets because of an adventurous 2 year old. So scary to think of how easily this could happen to anyone. R.I.P. little adventurer.

  • my little boy is an adventurous, skilled and determined climber and escapee. Even knowing this my grandparents have walked away while supposedly caring for him and I’ve found him scoping out the fence near the dam. this could’ve been my boy. A reminder never to let down your guard if you have one of these little explorers. Might heart aches for this family.
