On Monday, a two-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a car in Guildford and was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Tragically, the little girl passed away overnight and it’s expected charges laid against 22-year-old Mohammed Khazma, a man known to the child’s mother, will be upgraded to murder.

Police allege Mr Khazma physically assaulted the child at a Guildford granny flat, before the little girl’s mother carried her out and drove to a relative’s home 4km away, instead of calling an ambulance.

The woman was heard screaming “your son has killed my daughter” outside the house before paramedics rushed to help the critically injured girl inside the car.

Glen Parks, Acting Superintendent, has described Monday’s events as “shocking”.

“It is a human instinct to care for the young and the vulnerable and when instances like this occur it is often very difficult to comprehend. Any incident like this is very difficult.”

The child’s mother is assisting police with their investigations, which will be “a long process”.

Sending our thoughts to the family of the little girl at this incredibly difficult time.

  • So unfair for this child. May the pig rot in hell.

  • I hope he gets locked up for a very long time and his fellow prisoners find out why he’s inside and give him what he deserves! No idea what the mother was thinking driving her injured daughter to a relatives house instead of seeking help

  • One can wonder what drives people to do such evil acts, but it’s good that we can’t grasp or understand this !!

  • Poor child. How anyone can hurt a child is something I will never understand.

  • What a despicable thing this man (and I use the term loosely) did. What did she do to deserve that beating. I also can’t believe the mother didn’t take her to the hospital first. Maybe she could have saved her. We’ll never know. RIP now little one. You are with the angels who will never let anyone hurt you again

  • What an evil, evil man who deserves to spend many years in jail without freedom. This poor child. May she rest in peace and now be in a happy place. Just devastating and so sad.

  • .My thoughts and prayers go out to the family but why didn’t she go straight to the hospital, call an ambulance or the police. They are natural instincts, not going to scream at the family of the person responsible. Where was the mother when he assulted the little girl. Children are God’s gift to us to care for and love not to abuse

  • The fact that the article stated that the alledged is known to the Mum, i’m not sure the baby was his. Hopefully the little girl’s Mum will see the guy for what he is and cut all contact with him apart from the court case.

  • may she rest in peace,

what a pig of a man, I wish there was justice in the world where he could be made to feel how this little girl felt while he was beating her!

I will be disgusted if the charge isn’t increased to murder, I hope he gets a life sentence and gets what he deserves in jail
