The year is flying by, Christmas will be here before we know it and December is such a busy time of year and life can get a bit crazy. It can really help if you start getting organised for Christmas in November; it may save your sanity come December.

  1. Present shopping: shop-pixabay Make it easy for yourself, make a list of who you are buying for before you go to the shops and ideas of what you would like to buy them. Start shopping now to avoid the crowds in December.

  2. Wrapping: gift-pixabay Make time to wrap the presents you buy in the same week, then it’s done. If you wrap a few at a time, it doesn’t seem like such a big job.

  3. Cards: card pixabay If you send Christmas cards, buy them and get them written and ready to send off in December. One less job to fit in during December.

  4. Cook: christmas-fruit-cake-pixabay If you make Christmas cake or pudding, make it now and it will taste even better by Christmas. You could also make Christmas biscuits and freeze them.

  5. Food shopping: shopping-pixabay Every time you are at the supermarket buy a couple of extra ingredients or products you will need for your Christmas to reduce the cost of a massive food shop in December.

  • I always have myself organised earlier rather than later for Christmas. I can’t cope in the last few days with the mad rush so I pace myself.

  • All presents brought or made, wrapped too. Food is slowly getting there, just been told most of the older ones are only having healthy food to keep their weight down. As one says he can do it with me but at his in laws it will be multi course lunch and he will be wearing elastic pants. The younger ones are looking forward to the un healthy food o’course. Rum balls will be made in a few weeks, the fruit has been soaking since Father’s day.

  • With 6 children, 1 grand daughter and 4 birthday in December, I need to prep early for this time of the year. Our freezer really gets full at this time of the year. As we live on the west coast and rest of our extended family live on the east , Christmas is not that big. It is actually quiet. It is more for the younger ones to enjoy some time together before the older ones go to their own parties.
