This is the softest play dough you’ll ever make and the best bit – no cooking on the stove.

  • 1/2 cup shaving cream
  • 1/2 cup corn flour
  • 2 drops food colouring

  1. Mix together equal parts shaving cream and corn starch in a bowl.
  2. Roll out on to a clean board then knead it until it starts to form dough.
  3. Add a few drops of food colouring to colour it, then knead some more.

Notes... Add more cornflour if the mixture is too wet. Add more shaving cream if the mixture is too dry.

  • Be careful with this: as it dries it crumbles and makes a big mess

  • I’m so excited to try this! Has anyone tried to keep this? Does it store well over several days in an airtight container?

  • This looks like a great idea. My little one loves sensory play. I’ll wait until he’s a bit older to make this one though, as he’s still putting everything in his mouth.

  • I am yet to make this and until seeing your post I had actually forgotten all about this playdough but you’ve reminded me and I will get the ingredients this weekend and make some for the kids!

  • Great idea and I love the colours.

  • good for the kids who’re not going to eat it up. So quick and easy

  • I think the colours are gorgeous! Easy recipe too, thank you.

  • My daughter loved making this it turned out great.

  • I passed this on to my friend who has primary school aged kids and they absolutely love it. They made a huge batch and split it in to loads of different colours for their daughters unicorn themed birthday party and it kept the kids amused for ages!

  • Great Idea, thankyou for posting. I look foward to giving this a go over the weekend.

  • This looks great. Would have to keep it away from my 8 month old though so might wait until she is older and can enjoy it too.

  • My daughter loves this stuff. She actually made it herself before I even saw the recipe. It is beautifully soft, love it.

  • Now that sounds easy. Off to the shops for some no name shaving cream!
