Authorities have issued a warning to parents after a baby’s pram was completely destroyed by a passing freight train.

The clip, which was released by the UK’s Rail Safety and Standards Board, shows the pram rolling towards a passing train in July.

Luckily the child was in its mother’s arms at the time.

The video shows the stroller beginning to roll away from the woman and child, while she appears distracted.

Even though there was no child in the pram, authorities are using the clip to urge vigilance on platforms.

Pram users have been reminded to make sure the brakes are engaged, or that they have a firm grip on the handle at all times.

Earlier this year we shared the terrifying moment a child slipped between a train and the platform. Watch that HERE.

  • So scary. Luckily baby is in mums hand.

  • Face the pram the other way ie facing the length of the platform rather than the tracks, the platforms are designed slightly like an arch so water drains away. If the brakes fail it won’t roll away onto the tracks as fast. These train things happen every couple of years — very scary!

  • Potentially so dangerous – always use brakes.

  • That is so scary – thank god the baby wasn’t in the pram – please ensure you never let go of the pram and put the brake on when stopped!

  • So lucky the baby wasn’t in this pram! For me, and my daughter in law, it’s always been automatic to put the brake on. If you stop and have to take your hands off the pram, you flick the brake on. It’s not hard and could save lives

  • It should be an automatic habit to put the brake on for a pram no matter where you are or whether or not your baby is in it.

  • Was shocked when watching that on the news last night, and so thankful there was not a baby in the pram. Please always keep your hand on the pram, use the brakes and be alert at all times.

  • A timely reminder to always have the brake on the pram when stopped still.

  • That’s scary! I remember when my children were in prams I was so paranoid about that happening I would always have the pram brake on, even on flat surfaces.
