Are flu-like symptoms, cold, runny nose, gastrointestinal issues happening more frequently with your kids?

Most parents relate such issues with climate change, or at times they may take them as a course of childhood. But there could be one more thing hampering the health of your little champ. Low immunity. Obviously, as a parent, you want to keep diseases from your children miles away, but bacteria, viruses, fungi and other allergens present in the environment, do not let it happen. This is the reason you need to pay extra attention to boost your kid’s immunity. Here is the guide that can help your little one to cross all the hurdles coming to his or her ways.

Breastfeed Your Baby

Breast milk is rich in all the essential ingredients needed in developing your child’s immunity. Your baby receives water, carbohydrates, fatty acids, vitamins, protein, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, and white cells, all in one go. Hence, breastfeeding should be done as long as possible to help him grow and strengthen his immunity. It has also been observed that breastfed babies fall less ill as compared to bottle-fed babies. If your baby is younger than six months do not give him any other thing than breastfeeding, and after six months you can start giving him solid food, in addition to breast milk.

Give Your Champs a Great Diet

Right diet and eating habits contribute the most to your kid’s health and immunity. Keep them away from food additives, preservatives, and sugar. Intaking additives and preservatives in big quantity work towards suppressing the immunity of your child. Serve your kids fresh veggies and fruits to keep them in good health. Vegetable and fruits like carrots, orange, green beans, and strawberries are rich in phytonutrients that boost the production of white blood cells and interferon, which in turn help to fight diseases in the human body. According to studies, phytonutrients rich food can also give the fight to chronic diseases like heart problem and cancer.

If your kid is a preschooler, try giving him an at least 5 servings of fresh fruits and veggies in a day.

Make Sure Kids are Sleeping Enough

Besides time, the quality of sleep does matter a lot. It is highly important your babies are getting enough sleep. Children need slumber from 10-14 hours a day, according to their age. Insufficient sleep makes your kids susceptible to illness. Every individual in today’s life is in a hurry, this busy- going and over-scheduled lifestyle can create a stress over your kids too, which can become a cause of sleep deprivation. Hence, it is important you make enough time for yourself and your kids, to maintain a stress-free environment around the home.

For better understanding, let me tell you that a newborn needs about 18 hours of sleep, a toddler needs 12-14 hours of sleep and preschoolers should get proper 10 hours of sleep. And when it comes to quality, make sure they are undisturbed and should be sleeping the dark. Why? Electromagnetic frequency, emitted by the bulbs can affect the quality of your kid’s sleep. Another contributing factor to quality sleep includes a clean mattress. Make sure your mattress is clean and allergen free to ensure that your kids are safe while sleeping. And if you do not get enough time to clean your mattress, hiring professional mattress cleaning services can be your best bet.

Keep Your Indoor Environment Safe and Healthy

The environment outside your home is full of toxins and chemicals that give their best to lower your kid’s immune system. And there is nothing much you can do to avoid it. But what you can do is to keep the indoor environment safe. The clean and fresh air inside your home is very important when you are working on boosting your kid’s immunity. And for that, make sure your house is clean, and there is no heap of clutter lying around. Also, make sure to clean your ducts yearly or twice a year to keep indoor air fresh. And again if you do not get the time to clean ducts or you lack the expertise, you can hire professionals for duct cleaning.

These were a few easy and simple ways you can implement to enhance your kid’s immunity and keep them healthy.

  • Some little ones are prone to illness because of low immunity regardless of whether they are breastfed or given only nutritious food and no junk food at all. If they have an autoimmune disease you will be extremely fortunate if your child doesn’t catch anything. Yes, most germs etc are airborne and there is no way around that.
