Big W have issued a recall for a popular children’s table and chairs set.

The Tinkers Drawing Board Table and Chairs has been recalled due to the fact that in some circumstances the chairs may break if a child leans on it at an angle. If the chair breaks while in use, this could cause a serious injury.

In a statement BIG W said they take the safety of families that shop with them very seriously and wish to advise customers of a product recall on the following products.

What are the defects?

In some circumstances the chairs may break if a child leans on it at an angle.

What are the hazards?
If the chair breaks while in use, this could cause a serious injury.

What should consumers do?
Consumers should immediately cease using the product and return the product to any BIG W store for a full refund.

  • It could be that a child has leaned on it many times. Too much such abuse of furniture can result in accidents eventually – even very solid furniture. We are not told the age or weight of the child involved so maybe he / she was too old or heavy to be using it. This is not discrimination. It is about the chair either being faulty or used incorrectly

  • I like the fact that companies make an effort to recall items that aren’t safe. Hope the testing prior to releasing the products tightens.
