A bride-to-be has demanded that her fiance get a second job so she can focus on full-time wedding planning which she says requires all of her attention.

A bride-to-be has come under fire after she posted on Reddit asking for ways to convince her fiance to get a second job. The bride says she gave up work recently as planning their wedding was taking up all of her time but needs her future husband to take on extra work to fund the extravagant nuptials.

Equal Responsibility

The bride says that she can’t understand why her fiance is refusing to find additional employment, especially when she has put so much effort in to planning their big day.

“I quit my job because wedding planning was taking up so much time,” she wrote in her post. “He doesn’t understand that I don’t have time to get ready for work, be somewhere else all day and drive home. I need to be HOME to plan this wedding.”

Despite her husband-to-be asking her to reduce costs so he doesn’t need to find another source of income, the bride says she won’t give up her $80,000 dream wedding.

“This is MY WEDDING that I have been dreaming of since I was little,” she said. “What happened to ‘happy wife, happy life’?!”

Missing The Point

The bride says that she is determined to find her fiance additional work whatever it takes, but admits that her persistence has put a strain on their relationship.

“We can’t stop fighting and I don’t know what to do!” she told the forum. “How can I convince him to get a second job to pay for this?”

Comments on the bride’s post suggested that her inability to compromise, and lack of concern for her fiance, could be a bad sign for things to come.

“This isn’t just a red flag,” wrote one forum user. “This is a strobe light with a few fog horns attached to it!”

“Did you read the post?” another asked. “She is having a WEDDING…the marriage is irrelevant.”

While we won’t deny that wedding planning can be time-consuming and stressful, we can’t help but feel that this bride has forgotten what a marriage is all about…

  • I sure hope the guy saw and took notice of the massive warning sign and suggested she get her job back as the wedding was cancelled. RUN RUN RUN and dont look back.

  • While I know weddings are stressful there is no reason to quit your job and expect your partner to get more work especially if this is not a joint decision. The bride could have gone to part time or taken a leave of absence. There is too much expectation on the groom to be.

  • I’d like an update… Did they get married, or did this scare him off?

  • That is a bit ridiculous! If she wants an extravagant wedding maybe she should get another job and postpone the wedding. Marriage should be about equality and it’s not fair to expect the husband to do all the work just to fund a ridiculously expensive wedding.

  • Yes, she is so out of line. People forget your wedding day is just one single day out of your whole life, don’t go overboard with it

  • This is not promising for their relationship/future.

  • Um, sorry you don’t need to quit your job to plan a wedding, this is outrageous!

  • This is absolutely ridiculous and does not bode well for the future if this is how she is managing the wedding. Just ridiculous in my mind.

    • It is concerning and counselling before marriage might just be a good idea!

  • Surely this is a joke?
A marriage does not need to be a big and expensive production – it is one day out of a lifetime of marriage!
A wedding can be planned and other work commitments met too.

  • So if he does this does it mean that after the wedding he can be a stay at home husband while she finds 2 jobs for herself. Forgive me but this is a wedding which needs two people for it to go ahead. If the wedding means so much to her then maybe she should just marry herself. She doesn’t sound like she would make a very loving wife, she’s very selfish if you ask me. Hope he runs away while he can

  • This is a wedding that very likely won’t take place. With $80,000 you would have a sizeable deposit on a new home – much more preferable than a one day wonder and some equity for later too.

  • Wow talk about bridezilla! I worked full time and miraculously managed to plan mine and the honeymoon. If she’s this bad now I can only imagine what it’ll be like later he needs to run while he still can!

  • At least he knows he is marrying a crazy person now.

  • OMG! Is she really serious! If I were her finance I’d be doing a runner – this is not what marriage is all about and, if she’s like this before the wedding, what will she be like afterwards?!

    Reply

  • He should run…
