The bride-to-be must agree to sign a prenup promising to lose any future baby weight or run the risk of her husband filing for divorce…

A concerned bride-to-be has taken to Reddit to share her disbelief after her future husband asked her to sign a prenup agreeing to lose all future baby weight or risk a divorce. While she said she understands why her husband would want a prenup, as he is a successful surgeon, the future bride believes that his list of demands is completely unreasonable.

In The Family

The list of requirements and demands outlined by the prenup are almost laughable! “If I cheat on him, I walk away with nothing. Along with that, he put in a clause that stated that I have to lose any weight I gain after childbirth, at least 30lbs of it in the first year following childbirth,” the worried bride wrote. In addition to guidelines around maintaining her physique, her future husband had also stated that for every child she had, she would be entitled to a sum of money. Sounds more than a little dodgy to us! When the bride-to-be shared her concerns with her fiance, she was told to seek legal advice…from his father!

Major Red Flag

Commenters on the post were quick to encourage the bride to put herself first. “What if HE cheats?” said one. “Rip it up. Wave goodbye. Walk off into the sunset and find a guy who wants to protect you in life, not hang you out to dry!” said another. “RED FLAG ALERT. Say bye bye now. Save yourself the legal fees and pain in the long run.”

The bride-to-be replied to comments on the forum saying she had hired her own legal team and was hoping to negotiate a prenup that was equally beneficial…

  • The only reason I would get married is for love and this marriage is obviously not about love at all. Each to their own but if it was me i would be running for the hills without looking back.

  • That seems pretty ridiculous. Would that really be enforced if they separated. Surely she could challenge that in court if it came to that.

  • Find yourself a better man to marry. That’s ridiculous.

  • I wouldn’t marrying him. I didn’t do it before i got married but wish I had

  • Gosh that’s harsh

  • No way !

  • I never signed a prenup before I got married. By all means have a prenup if you own assets that you don’t want to split in a divorce but the details in this prenup are ludicrous. Glad she’s getting legal help but not from his father. After all, it was probably his dad who did the prenup in the first place.

  • No… I can understand a prenup that protects existing assets in some circumstances, but this is unreasonable.

  • So he has money, fine have a prenup but seriously… a weight loss clause and a reward for each child. Nope sounds shallow and narrow minded. I’d be out of there. If you can’t discuss it with him and remove selfish clauses, then id burn the prenup and run.

  • He sounds like a disgusting pig! Whatever happened to ‘in sickness and in health, till death do us part’? Some women really struggle with losing the baby weight and it can be a hard time for a lot of women and looks aren’t everything a husband should love you for who you are not what you look like.

  • Um, no. And anyone who would make these ridiculous demands is not worth marrying. I would love to respond to his prenup with 1. don’t be a horrible person; 2. love me unconditionally; 3. don’t put on weight at all during the marriage… that’s how ridiculous he is.

  • Run – this man will control you and you wont have a life

  • Ridiculous

  • I wouldn’t be staying with this bully – mental bullying like this is just as wrong as physical violence and having a pre-nup hanging over your head in this manner is a form of mental violence in my opinion.

  • I would laugh and walk away and and move on and be thankful for the red flag!
