American actress Busy Phillips has hit back at critics who have labelled her new tattoo inappropriate for a mum of two…

Busy Phillips is a force to be reckoned with. In addition to being a successful writer, director, producer and actress, she is also a dedicated mum-of-two, but her parenting style came under fire this week after her Instagram post was labelled ‘inappropriate’. Busy shared a photo of her recent tattoo with her followers and was met with harsh criticism, defending her decision on her popular talk show Busy Tonight.

Nobody’s Business

Busy’s new tattoo, located on her ankle, shows an image of a young girl ice-skating away from the words “f**k ‘em”  inspired by her memoir This Will Only Hurt A Little. Sharing the image to Instagram along with a short caption, Busy highlighted its personal significance. “My favourite illustration drawn for my book…and weirdly, true to form and as things always tend to be, it really always only hurts a little,” she wrote.

Being A Role Model

Comments on Busy’s post questioned whether a mother-of-two should have such a controversial tattoo. “Not a positive message to send to your daughters,” wrote one follower. “Hate to be a buzzkill but won’t your children want to see this?” another asked.

After facing a barrage of negative comments, Busy used her talk show as a platform to hit back at critics. “My kids have heard the word f**k before – they’re my f**king kids,” she said. “If you’re not teaching your daughter to say ‘f**k ‘em’ they’re just going to end up watching a lot of boys play video games or skateboarding in parking lots. Is that what you want for them?”

While we support Busy’s decision to have whatever tattoo she chooses, perhaps social media isn’t the place to share it if you’re not prepared to face some backlash…

  • Oh how we just love to judge others and tell then how they should live their lives but heaven forbid anyone tell a judgy person how to live their lives.

  • Why are people so quick to judge. Its just a word. I swear but my daughters dont. I would never get a swear word tattooed on my body but each to their own.

  • It’s inappropriate for people to be commenting. Live and let live

  • It’s no one’s business, just leave her alone.

  • Leave the lady alone. It was a thought out decision.

  • I’m sure there are lots of things to worry about ahead of what someone else gets tattooed on them.

  • I don’t care for tattoos so I don’t get them. However, it’s not that out there with so many adorning themselves with tattoos. Her choice.

  • Some of the judgey comments on here! It is her body to do with what she likes. It doesn’t have to be something you morally agree with. She is a person in the spotlight so her actions will attract more interest and comments than the average persons. I think she loves her kids and does the best for them, so get off your high horse!

  • I’ve seen worse including mums with neck tattoos circling around their neck and more that aren’t my taste but you know what- I’d rather see a decent mum with tattoos than a unclassy one saying f- f- all the time teaching her kids that swearing constantly is ok. Now that isn’t the right thing for a mum and what I frown on.

  • I’m not crazy about tattoos but I don’t mind this one.

  • I have nothing against tattoos and I do like this one. It is out of the line of sight so it doesn’t stand out if you’re not looking. It’s a personal choice.

  • I kind of like it.

  • As a Mumma with quite a lot of tattoos, I freaking love this! Go Mumma, you do you x

  • I dont like tats at all…….I think she should get this one removed its feral. I think tats unfortunately also brand the people that have them as unsavoury and when you have kids you need to be a good role model.

  • I’m personally not a fan of tattoos – and I don’t have one. I do understand some people’s tattoos for personal reasons, etc. and I’m not against them for others. But, perhaps don’t post or share on socials if you don’t want any criticism. In this day of outrage, it’s expected to come back at you, sadly.
