This app was meant to let children call Santa, but it turns out that it isn’t spreading the Christmas cheer you’d expect…

Mum Kersty Elizabeth Taylor downloaded the Santa Call NEW 2018 app for her three year old son in the hope it would bring the magic of Christmas alive with a message from Santa himself. The app publishers are now being investigated after her son received a message threatening his life through a menacing voice note sent to his Kindle.

Absolutely Fuming

Kersty was left absolutely fuming after discovering the message while her daughter Evie was playing with her son’s Kindle. In the app, Kersty saw a message, and upon pressing the call button expected to hear the automated Santa message. What she heard instead is enough to give any Mum the chills.

“Hello there, can you hear me children? In five nights, if you’re free, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.”

Hardly the Christmas magic Kersty had hoped for and stomach-churning to say the least. Posting online in the hope she would save other families the same fright, Kersty said, “I’ve reported the app!!!! If everyone else could do the same! Some people in this world need help. Urgently!!”

Violation of Policy

Amazon, the distributor of the app, released a statement saying it has been removed from its app store as it violates company policies. You think!? Given the app was downloaded directly from the children’s section of the store, the company are determined to track down the publishers so they can be dealt with by the relevant authorities.

The message to take away from this story? Check if the apps you are downloading, especially for your children, come from a known and credible source and have good reviews/ratings. You never know who or what is lurking out there in cyberspace.

  • So scarey! It’s despicable that people target children this way. We really need to super vigilant with what our kids have access to.

  • What is wrong with people – how could a business even do this?!

  • Oh no this poor poor child and mum!! Why would someone do that?

  • Thats horrible! I call my brother in law when we need to talk to Santa. But its used more as an “I hear you’ve been naughty, are you going to behave now?” kind of tool.

  • How awful. I really hope the kids didn’t come across the message and it was just the mum. I would feel sick to my stomach if I found that on a device of ours. Some people really need help.

  • Oh no, not what you would expect with a Santa app. Shouldn’t be surprised I suppose with all the sickos and weirdos out there, they take every opportunity to get at kids and people in general
