Australian woman is going viral after she shared her clever trick to avoid losing socks in the wash.

Megsie Vincent shared her clever hack in the Kmart Mums Australia Facebook group according to News.com.au, and it has attracted hundreds of likes and shares.

Her tip – put all your dirty socks in a large delicates laundry bag, and when it’s full throw the whole thing in the wash, so all the socks stay together.

To make it even easier, you can velcro the bag to the front of the washing machine.

“So this isn’t Pinterest pretty or anything but it is so helpful and easy so I wanted to share,” Ms Vincent wrote.

“This is a laundry bag from Kmart (1 in a 3 pack) [which costs $6] and I’ve attached it with velcro dots so that I can rip it off and chuck it in the wash.”

Her post has attracted over 1200 reactions.

  • My youngest takes his socks off anywhere and then they get lost amongst all his toys

  • Love to know where these socks are going to in the wash… maybe their washer has a back door to Narnia.
My routine. Put items into washing machine, put in detergent, turn on and wash.
When finished, take items out of washer and hang line.
OK maybe once or twice when hanging/pairing up the socks on the line I am missing one but it’s a simple trip back to the machine to realise one stray sock was left behind in the machine drum.. easy peasy take out and hang up. No worries No drama.

  • I never loose socks in the wash, they get lost before they hit the wash ! My kids often throw their socks off, one here one there and then they seem to wander off ;)

  • I had to stop my kids simply dropping their socks on the floor wherever they took them off – not always both in the same place either…..and put them in the washing basket. They have one each in their bedroom. It then becomes a chore and the kids complain about it. Our dog will pick them up and drop them somewhere else if they are left lying around (the same with shoes) but she has never chewed or damaged any at all, even if she finds shoes outside she never puts them in mud or water. Most would chew on them. I know of one kid who used to throw his in the bottom of his wardrobe.

  • I’ve never lost a sock in the wash either. Sometimes I miss a sock but it will go in with the next load. When this happens I’ll peg the odd shock to the clothes house until the other one gets washed

  • What is everyone doing to lose socks in the wash?? This has never ever been a problem for me. You just chuck them in then hang them out then put them away. Where is it they can go?

  • Great idea. Would also stop those pesky socks getting left behind or dropped on the ground while trying to hang washing out.

    • Laundry bags have so many purposes around the house – they are cheap too!
