Winners for this competition

  1. R. Beaton - QLD
  2. P. Harkin - VIC

  • I work from home, and this year I’ve stopped using water bottles. Instead, I keep a cup by the sink so I’m forced to get up and walk to the kitchen. Having kids means I usually find a mini-mess to clean along the way which is an added bonus!

  • I set a timer to take a 10 minute break every hour, to stretch, wiggle and get up and move around, any thing to get movement into my body, and to pick my energy up.

  • The best one I have is to have walking meetings and whenever possible take them outside :)

  • Drink lots of water and then you need to get up to go to the toilet!

  • I have an app on my desktop that reminds me I need to get up and look into the distance. It’s helped me for over 5 years now.

  • An excuse to get up from the desk is a great way to stretch the legs and get a little bit of exercise. After all, I learnt from Legally Blonde exercise creates endorphins and endorphins make you happy!

  • eat healthy and exercise regularly

  • I set my alarm to go off every hour during the day, that way I make sure to get up and walk around

  • Ditch the 1 litre water bottle on your desk and only use a glass, so you have to get up and head to the water cooler to refill each time. That’s 6-8 mini breaks for water and a few for toilet breaks too!

  • Working at home, I find it difficult to remember to get up regularly, so now set an alert every 60 minutes where I get up and move – hanging out the washing, checking the mail, walking outside for a minute – anything to get me moving!

  • Every half an hour I make sure I get up and go to the water cooler for a drink. The walk and drink helps me refresh and keep focused!

  • Stay hydrated! The more you drink the more you need to go to the restroom meaning you will need to have a break. This will give you a chance to rest you eyes and stretch out your body and regenerate allowing you to soldier on with your work.

  • Sitting at my desk can be back breaking work so I set my phone alarm to go off every hour…
then stop what I’m doing, go for a 10 min walk, and gentle stretch… because no ones has your back.. but you !

  • Move around, get a drink of water, then I can maintain my eight glasses per day and ensuring I get off my chair

  • Drink lots of water! Ye olde bladder needs to listened to, so off I hop to spend a penny. I then do stretches and a walk around. Without the ‘reminder’ I wouldn’t move!
