  • We talk a lot about food as medicine and keeping our bodies healthy, so planting herbs and veggies is all part of the learning process. They love to be involved from planting right through to picking!

  • My 7 year old tries to get me involved by him wanting to buy the seedlings and plant them and he waters them daily and he has a worm farm now too and he loves gardening

  • I take our daughter around the garden and show her the veggies and fruit trees, she crawls about feeling the grass. She is almost 1 and showing lots of interest already!

  • They choose the seeds/plants for vegie patch and weed and water it. They help peel vegies and take scraps to compost heap to replenish the garden. We take time to look at good and bad bugs in the patch as well. Then they harvest and eat when ready!!

  • I let them taste it!

  • I try to get them to understand the whole process from “whoa to go;” planting a seed, watering and feeding it, picking and preparing the final product for eating. As well as other benefits, they get to understand the processes involved in getting produce to the supermarket and greengrocer.

  • I find the kids really enjoy the planting of fast growing seeds. They shoot up so fast and hopefully can be something yummy to eat or bright beautiful flowers.

  • By letting my kids choose what they want to grow and eat along with quick growing crops where waiting for results is minimal, never fails to ignite their gardening enthusiasm!

  • Small balcony garden, kids have great fun planting watering , watching and then picking and consuming the results.everything they grow tastes so much better. Plenty of encouragement and praise works wonders.

  • Grow together for together is the nicest way to be!

  • We brought Amber her own gloves, and she helps plant the seeds. She uses the watering can to water them everyday. Harvesting is her favourite, pulling it all up or off gets her excited.

  • I get my daughter involved in each step, from choosing the seeds, planting them, tending the garden & picking the produce. She loves her fruit & vegetables! We recycle & reuse items rather than buy new such as using yoghurt containers for pots & using our vegetable scraps to make compost.

  • I get my child to grow vege seeds and to care and water them…. She gets so excited to harvest her own herbs and veges!

  • sprouts on wet cotton wool soon start to grow,I put carrot tops in saucer with water also, all quick results interest is started. egg cartons with soil one seed per egg case, can be planted in carton casing in garden space

  • I purchased a small aluminium vegie garden for my grandsons . I would like them to learn how to prepare the soil and plant their own vegetables
