  • I was so excited I pushed mum out the door because I was certain they were going to teach me to write then and there and I wanted to be an author.

  • Discovery that my kindy room had a Sylvanian Families doll house I’d been coveting for aaaagess, and now I got to play with it EVERYDAY!!! I’m sure Mum and Dad were just as pleased. No more begging!!

  • Walking in to a pole because I didn’t want to leave mum behind

  • Getting lost in the big playground and ending up in tears until rescued by a girl in my class who lived near my house. We have been friends ever since sixty years later!

  • My older brother & sister helping me through my fear and showing me around and re-assuring me that they will be in the playground waiting for me when its lunchtime.

  • Started school at Millfield Public School (Country NSW) then a 2 room school and only 2 of us in kindergarten. Nurse came to school for immunisation and little boy I was in kindy with promptly hid under the principals table. Thats when I learnt boys werent that tough after all!

  • Finger painting with Mrs Bead, rest time, walking in pairs to get our bottle of milk and listening to The little Engine That Could………so much fun

  • Enjoying the sunshine when we were allowed outside to play.

  • I remember my first day of prep, going on 33! I was so proud to be going to school finally with my big brother (he was 5 yrs older than me). I think I followed him around the playground all day, and I was known as Mick’s little sister from that day on!

  • When we moved house and I was in Grade 2. I made a great friend on my first day named Casey and we’re still friends to this day and we’re now 32 years old!

  • I remember it so well! I was excited to learn and take my own bag and lunch. I distantly remember quote a few kids crying as their Mum dropped them off and thinking why, don’t they know their Mum will get them soon? Haha.

  • I remember standing in my front yard – all decked out in my uniform and my hard suitcase decorated with stickers and feeling so big. Mum took me to school and having 2 big sisters I wasn’t afraid at all and just ran to the area I was to go to…..not even looking back to say goodbye to my mum

  • I have an older sister, (M) so everyone was like “Is this M’s sister?” They thought I was really cute and pinched my cheeks, which I found highly unpleasant.

  • Too long ago can’t recalll but loved playing games with friends during recess

  • WALKING INTO THE KINDY CLASSROOM AND SEEING ALL THE PLAYDOUGH LAYED OUT ON THE TABLES, THE SMELL OF COOKED PLAYDOUGH WAS AND STILL IS AMAZING.
