5 lucky winners will receive a Summer reading book pack from Allen & Unwin valued at $120 each.

HAPPY DAYS!

Summer’s here at last. Time to relax, unwind and read a book. By the pool, at the beach, in a park, on holidays, at home. Thanks to Allen & Unwin, we have 5 book packs – comprising this Summer’s four hottest reads – to give away.

Find fabulous fiction in To Capture What We Cannot Keep, a story of an unlikely romance between a Scottish widow and French engineer set against the backdrop of the construction of the Eiffel Tower, and The Slow Waltz of Turtles, the story of a Parisian woman contending with divorce, family trouble, and murder in her journey to discover who she really is. For crime lovers there’s Ben Sander’s gritty, explosive new thriller Marshall’s Law. If you love Michael Connelly, Raymond Chandler and Lee Child, Marshall’s Law is your book. And from the godfather of Australian crime fiction Peter Corris, his new novel Win Lose or Draw. Fans of Cliff Hardy, you won’t be disappointed!

  • Time to spare, sit outside in summer air, under some shady trees, just sunglasses, books & me! No cold winds blowing, not icy or cold, don’t have to huddle under a blanket or risk frozen fingers in bed!

  • Being able to find a shady tree, a patch of grass and an interesting book and I’m in heaven.

  • It’s very convenient that at the very time it’s too hot to do anything much you spend your time with a book – that also doubles as a fan.

  • When you’re on Summer holiday, reading is the best! Getting lost in an immersive world of your imagination brought to life from fabulous authors. I look forward to a year of new stories!

  • In summer you seem to have more free time to indulge in reading and lately I’m reading all different types of novels, always was romance and contemporary titles but now. I’m into mysteries and murders.

  • Reading by the pool

  • Laying on the beach doing it.

  • Because you can take your book anywhere and read it and take as long as you need.

  • Relaxing, as a school teacher my long holidays give me the chance to catch up on my must reads, lying back on the beach reading can fill in many days

  • In Summer there is just a more relaxed mindset! I love reading all year round, but it always feels like holidays during summer (even if it isn’t) and reading makes it all the more enjoyable.

  • Being able to read in the sunshine and fresh air makes for less distractions and allows me to engross myself in the settings of the book.

  • That occasionally I get to relax in a Hammock, a bowl of Peeled Grapes, chilled Sparkling Wine and a stack of Summer Reading beside me!

  • The chance to sit outside, enjoying nature, sunshine, beneath a shady tree, or at the beach maybe, getting lost in a story,
    – the chance to relax, with the wonderful variety of stories in Allen and Unwin’s prize book pack!

  • Escaping the sizzling summer heat to a cool verandah or couch in a chilly airconditioned room with a tall glass of something cold and icy to scare myself silly with one of Susan May’s (great Aussie writer) thrillers for an uninterrupted hour or two, what bliss! Thanks!

  • Lying out on my deck, reading my favourite book while the sun keeps me nice and toasty.
