  • Lots of lists which the children tick off as each item is bought or packed etc. Start early so the work of buying their items is spread out over time. Labelled plastic storage tubs with lids so they can keep their items tidy and know where they are.

  • By making lunches the night before and getting his clothes ready the night before and making sure his bag is packed and ready as well. l also make cheese and vegemite or banana muffins for a quick and easy breakfast too.

  • Make Christmas Practical by wrapping all their back to school needs and popping them under the tree!!

  • The school starting in kinder and year 3 is all about routine and fun. Homemade treats, colouring and afternoon relaxing after a big school day.

  • I have 4 teenagers in high school, so being organised is a must! I like to make their lunches the night before, and have them on a rotating roster for uniform washing ????

  • I get my kids organised for the school year by getting things early in the year.

  • I am amazed at how organized I am getting since becoming a mum. At school I was shocking ( Only had a Dad.) And had to organize myself. I really love getting things in advance and I am finally getting the budget on track. I love getting my daughter’s involved and teaching them.

  • I write lists! So many lists – but it keeps us organised. Different colour pens for stationary, activities, appointments etc. and a set routine plus everything ready the night before makes mornings less chaotic.

  • we sit down and work out what are out main things we need, write a list – see what we have and then go out and buy what we need

  • When they come home from school, ensure the backpacks are emptied and the same day repack them for tomorrow. Also have uniforms ready the night before. In the morning only fridge stuff needs be added.

  • I have their schedules printed out and stuck to both of their bedroom doors. It occurred to me they might like it if I did the same, so now I have one on my bedroom door too. That way they know where I am and when.

  • Get everything you need and packed ready to go so there’s no rushing around last minute and losing out!

  • Check school clothes all fit and are named – even undies- because of swimming sessions. In class things labelled, colour coded where possible. Practise “runs” before term starts. Wall chart check lists to cope with morning ‘madness’

  • A trip to Kmart and a drop off to donut king! We all win then!

  • My tip combines ice-cream and online-shopping – the perfect combination!
    1. Prepare by putting kids to bed.
    2. Put out necessities: Tub of Coles Caramel Popcorn, Laptop and School Book list.
    3. Head to different discount online shops and get it all done in the one sitting!
