Article Desperate Parents Turn to ‘Date Night’ Child Care Services

“Date night” courtesy of  childcare? Yes please!

More than 40 Goodstart Early Learning Centres across WA will hold simultaneous date nights, opening for a few hours at night to care for children and allow their parents to take some time out for themselves.

Families enrolled at the centres have booked their children in for up to three hours, at a cost of $20 a child, and some centres will hold theme nights or pizza and movie nights, shares WA News.

Goodstart State manager Todd Dawson said the concept was introduced after feedback from families who felt they had lost time together since having children.

“We are exploring new and better ways to meet the needs of children and families,” Mr Dawson said.

“Date nights are a terrific example of this partnership where through our existing trusting relationships, parents and caregivers can get some much-needed time together which will in turn support better outcomes for children and the family.”

  • The majority of husbands/ partners would be at work when the children are at school unless they work flexi-time, get rostered days off or have leave.

  • Oh yes please. I could do with a date night with my hubby. Haven’t had one since we had kids-nearly 14 years ago. We have gone out for lunch though when the kids are at school!

  • I think it’s a great idea too, kids would love it more of theirs pizza and a movie involved lol

  • I think it’s a great idea. Parents can enjoy some time for themselves, while knowing their kid is well looked after.
